1 General Gordon has received the gold medal and one clasp for Martinique and Guadaloupe.
2 Colonel Campbell commanded the infantry force which formed part of the expedition against the Insurgent Boerj
beyond the Orange River, South Africa, in April 1845 ; and he commanded the Reserve Battalion, 91st Regt., throughoutth
whole of the Kaffir war of 1846-7 and was specially mentioned in Colonel Somerset’s despatches of the 17th and 18th Apri
1846, as also in Lieut.-Gcn. Sir George Berkeley’s General Order of the 17th Dec. 1847, as having conducted and commande*
one of the columns of attack against the chief Sandilli, which concluded the war.
11 Lieut. Crampton was dangerously wounded in the action with the Rebel Boers at Boem Plaats.
