1 Sir Horatio Shirley served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55; commanded the 88th in the battles of Alma and
Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol; was General Officer of the Trenches in the attack on the Quarries on the 7th
It June, and at the attack on the 18th June, and commanded a Brigade at the attack on the Redan on the 8th Sept.—
wounded (Medal with three Clasps, CB., Officer of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and ird
Class of the Medjidie).
3 Lt.Colonel Lambert served with the 88th Regiment in the Crimea from the 22nd January to 26th March, and from
June to the 17th September 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, the attack of the Quarries, and attacks
Rof the Redan on the 18th June and 8th September—severely wounded (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
1 Served also in suppression of the Indian mutiny in 1858, including the affair at Bhognapore, siege of Lucknow in
March, and siege of Calpee (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
5 Major Hopton served with the 88th Regiment in the Crimea from 17th June 1855, including the siege and fall
of Sebastopol, and attacks of the Redan on the 18th June and 8th September—severely wounded (Medal with Clasp,
and Turkish Medal). Served also in suppression of the Indian mutiny in 1857-58, including the siege of Lucknow
in March 1858, and siege of Calpee (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
7 Major Dalrymple served in the Ashanti War in 1874, as Special Commissioner to the Wassaws and Denkeras,
on the left flank of the Main line of Advance, and subsequently on the Transport Service (mentioned in despatches.
Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
8 Captain Irwin served with the 88th Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, including the affair of
Bhognapore, siege of Lucknow in March 1858, siege of Calpee, and subsequent campaign in Oude (Medal with Clasp
for Central India).
9 Major Moore served with the 88th Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign from December 1857, including the
affair of Bhognapore, siege of Lucknow in March, siege of Calpee, action of Selimpore (slightly wounded), action
of Jamoo, storm and capture of Birwah Forts—slightly wounded, and mentioned in despatches (Medal with
*, Clasp for Central India). Served in the Ashanti War in 1874 in raising a force from the Wassaw and Denkera
tribes on the left flank of the main line of advance; and, on the return of the troops to the coast, was employed
in the Transport Service (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
