Lord Templotown served through¬
out the Eastern campaign of 1854,
and until March 1855, in command
of the 1 st Battalion of Coldstream
Guards, present at the battle of the
Alma (mentioned in despatches),
battle of Inkerman, in command of
the Brigade of Guards, which he
brought out of action (wounded, and
horse killed), subsequently in com¬
mand of the ist Division; also pre¬
sent at the siege of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasps, CB., Officer of
the Legion of Honor, 3rd Class of the
Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
2 Lord Melville commanded the
33rd during the suppression of the
insurrection in Lower Canada in 1837;
and also in repelling the attacks of
the American brigands who landed
near Prescott, Upper Canada, in 1838.
Commanded the Bombay Column of
the Army throughout the Punjaub
campaign of 1848-49, including the
siege and storm of the town and cap¬
ture of the citadel of Mooltan, battle
of Goqjerat, and subsequent opera¬
tions (Medal with Clasps, and KCB.),
