1 Colonel Hagart served with the 7th Hussars in Canada in 18:18, and returned home with the Itegt. in 1811, com¬
manded the ith Hussars in the Indian campaign fiom Dec 1857, including the repulse of the attack on the Alumb tgh till
promoted Brigadier in Match 18o8. Commanded the 1st Cava'ry Brigade in the operations beyond the Goomtee, at the
siege of Luckno v <CB., Medal and Clasp), and during the Rohihund c ampaign, including the affair ot Alleegunge, anl
the captures of Ruyaghur, Shahjehanpore, Bareilly, and Mohumdee. In the autumn of the same year was atta» tied to
the Ou le field force, and commanded the Cavalry of that Division at the occupation of Fyz„bad, passage of the Gogra,
and during the whole of die Trans-Gogra campaign till she conclusion of the war in 185il (several times mentioned in
despatches).
2 Colonel Custance served in the Crhuean campaign from 14 Aug. 1855, including the ba'tle ot the Tchern iya, siege and
fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp, Order of the Medjidie, 5th Class, and Turkish Medal). Commanded the Carabineers
at the outbreak of the Mut ny atMeeiut on 10th May 1X'7, also in the subs qu nt campaign of that year, including the
battles of ihe Hindun, the 30th and 31st May (horse killed)., Battle of Budlekas .rai (horse wounded), affair of 9tn June,
and siege of Delhi. Commanded the whole of the Inegular Cavalry under Sir H 'pe Grant, at the storming of the City
on the I-ith September. Commanded the Cavalry of Brigadier Showers’ Column during the subsequent opeiations. In
command of the Carabineers and Hodaon’s Horse captured the fortress of Kanound with 22 guns and lacs of treasure.
Also in command of the < arabimers and 2i d Bengal Fusiliers, surprised the City of Furr ck Nuggur, taking the Navvab.
Commanded a Wing of the Carabineers in the ac ion of Bunk.igaon on 11th Oct. 1858, also three squadrons during the
subsequent campaign in Oude, including the actions of Mahoudipore, Russ olpore, advance on and captuie of the fin tress
Mit -udre, the actions of Allygung and Bishwa, joined the Agra field fo ce hy forced marches and commanded a Wing of
the Carabineers in pursuit of Tantla Topee for three monies through Rajpootai a and Cental Ind a, during which fre¬
quently commanded detached columns (thanked by the Governor General in Council, and frequently mentioned in
despatches, Medal and Clasp, Brevet or Colonel, and CB ).
3 Lt.Colonel Tomkinson served ihe Eas'dn campaign of 1854-55 with the 8th Hussars, including the battles of Alma,
Balaklava (horse killed), and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Mid 1 and four CLasps, Brevet Major, Sardinian and
Turkish Med ds, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
4 Captain Anderson served ihe Easiern canipa'gn of 1854 with the 11th Light Dragoons ; was unier fire the day previous to the Alma,
and present at the buttles of Alma, Balaclava, and Inkerman (Medal and Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
5 Major Stephenson served with the 17ih Lancers in India irom Feb. 1814 io 1823, including the campaign of 1817-18
against the Pindarees. Also the Eastern campaign oi 1854-55, including the affair of Btilganak. battles of Alma, Balaklava,
and Inkerman (acting as Adjutant), and siege of Sebastopol (.Medal and Clasps, and Tuikish Mtdal).
6 Major BlinUhorn served with the 16th Lancers in ihe battle of Mahaiaipore, ‘idth Dec. 1843 (Medal). Also in the
campaign on the Sutlej in 1846, including the affair of Buddewal, and battles of Aliwai and Sobraon (Medal and one
Clasp).
7 ( aptain Davies served in the Crimea with the 10 h Hussars f om : 0th June 1855, including the battle of Tehernaya
and tali of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served with the Carabineers the Indian campaign^ of
1857-59, and was present at the outbreak of the Sepoy Mut ny at j eerut on 10th May 1-5 , the actions of the Hindun
80th and 3lst May, battle of Budleekeserai, siege and fall of Delhi, and subsequent operations under Bn adier Showers j
also the affair of Kerkrowlie, taking of Bareilly, affairs of Majidia, Churdal, and Bankee, and pursuit to the river Raptee
(Medal and Clasps).
8 Quarter Master House served with the 9th Lancers in the battle of Punniar on 29th Dec. 1843 (Medal). The Sutlej
campaign in including the battle of Sobraon (Medal). The Punjaub tampaign of 1848-9, including the passage of
the Chenab at Ramnuggur, and battles of Chillianwallah and Gnojerat (Medal and Clasps). Throughout the suppression
of the Indian Mutiny in 1857-59, including the battle of Budlekeserai, siege, assault and capture of Delhi, actions ur Bolund,
shuhur and Allyghur, battle of Agra, affair at Kanoge, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec.,
action at Seraighat, occupation of Futty«hur, siege and capture of Lucknow, campaign in Oude and Rohilcund and affairs
at Rhodamow and Allygunge, capture of Bareilly, action near Shahjehanpore and pursuit to Mohumdee, and passage of
the Gogra at Fyzabad (Medal and Clasps).
