Kotah, battle of Ko-a ka Serai, general action resulting in the
capture of Gwalior, siege and capture of Powrie (Medal and Clasp).

1 Sir Hugh Rose served the Syrian campaign of 1840-41 (Medal, C/?., Cross of St. John of Jerusalem of Prussia, and
sword of honor from the Sultan). Served die Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as die Queen's Commissioner at the Head
Quarters of the French Army, and was wounded belore Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Major General, KCIi., Commander
of the Legion of Honor, and third Class of the Medj'die). Commanded the Central India Field Force thioueliout the
Mutiny of’ 1857-58, including the relief of Saugor, captireof Ratghur, Shahghur, and Cbundehree, siege and capture of
Jhansi and Calpee, and various other engaee uents tertninaiing in the storm and capture of Gwalior and restoiadou of tho
Maharajah Scindia to his capital JiCB. and promoted Lt.Goneral “ in consideration of his eminent services”).
3 Major Parish served the Kalfir campaign of 1846-47 (Medal). Was in command of two Companies of ihe 45th Regt.,
a Detachment of Cape M. Rides, and 900 Zulus, sent from Natal to aid Major Warden in the Sovereignty, from Aug. 1851
to July 1852.
1 Captain Hobbs served the Kaffir campaign of 1850-53 (Medal); commanded the rear-guard of the 91st Rcat. as a volunteer
on 29ih Dec. 1650, when two officers and twenty-two men were killed, and one officer ami eighteen men wounded; was appointed
Captain Commandant of a native lorce of 330 men, which lie commanded for several months on patrol through the Amatolas and
Waterkloof; in Dec. 1851 he was again attached to the 91st Regt. as a volunteer; rejoined the 45th Regt. early in 1852, and ac¬
companied it on every patrol through the Walprkloof and Amalolas until the termination of the war ; was several times named
in General Order?.
