2 Colonel Stannus served in the cam¬
paign of 1842 in Affghanistan, including
the forcing of the Khyber Pass, and bat¬
tle of Alamoo Khail (Medal). Com¬
manded the personal escort of Sir Hugh
Gouah at the battle of Maharajpore and
throughout the Gwalior campaign of
1843-44 (Bronze Star). Served through¬
out the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, with
tlte Governor Geneial's Body Guard at
the battles of Moodltee and Ferozesbati,
and was also present at Aliwal and So-
braon (Medal and three Clasps). Expe¬
dition to Kote Kangra in 1846. Punjaub
campaign of 1848-49, present at the action of Bamnugaur,
and again commanded the Cavalry escort of Lord Gough
at the battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat, at which
last he was very severely wounded (Medal with two
Cl isps, Wound Pension for life, and Brevet Major). Was
present at Meerut when the outbreak of the Seapoy mu¬
tiny took place at that station in May 1857.
3 Major E. C. Warner served the Gwalior campaign of
1843-44, including the battle of Punniar (Bronze Star).
Also throughout the siege operations before Mooltan and
surrender of the fortress in 1848-49 (Medal).
