49 War Services of the Colonels.

He lias received the War Medal with one Clasp for Fuentes d’Onor.
12 Colonel Dundas served in the 47th Itegt. on the expedition to South America in 1806-7,
and was present at the taking of Maldonado, in several skirmishes, and at the attack and
storming of Monte Video. He served afterwards in the East Indies, and was present in 1814 at
the capture of the Fort of Now Nuggur, and in several skirmishes. He served also in the
Burmese Territory from Jan. 1826 till peace was proclaimed.
13 Colonel Willington served in the East Indies from May 1813 to May 1823, includ¬
ing the campaigns of 1815 and 16 in Kattywar and Kutch; taking of Anjar; Deccan campaigns
of 1817 and 18; campaign of 1819 in Candeish; and in Kutch in 1820.
14 Colonel Westmore served the campaigns of 1813 and 14 in Germany and Holland,
including both attacks on Merxem, and the assault on Bergen-op-Zoom; served at Waterloo on
the 16th, 17th, and 18th June, and was severely wounded.
15 Colonel Poole served throughout the operations in Scinde (Medal) under Sir Charles
Napier, and commanded the 22nd at the battle of Meeanee, and a brigade at the battle of Hyder¬
abad. He was also previously at the destruction of the Fort of Imaumghur in the Desert. He
served the campaign in the Southern Mahratta country in 1844-5, including the investment and
capture of the Forts Panulla and Pownghur.
16 Colonel White’s services :—Campaign in Spain, under Sir John Moore, including
the retreat to and battle of Corunna, where he was wounded. Siege of Flushing, and capture
of Walcheren; campaigns in Canada, from Nov. 1813, to the end of the war. He has received
the War Medal with one Clasp for Corunna.
17 Colonel Tennant served at the siege of Flushing in 1809.
17+ Colonel Macbean served in the Peninsula and France, from July 1812 to August
1814, including the affair at Osma, battle of Vittoria, both sieges of San Sebastian and
capture of it; passage of the Nivelle, 10th November, and actions of the Nive, 9th, 10th,
11th, and 12th December, 1813. Served also the campaign of 1815, including the capture
of Paris. Served afterwards with the Army of Occupation until 1818. He has received the
Silver War Medal with four Clasps.
18 Colonel R. B. Burnaby served the campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo.
19 Colonel Tyrwhitt served the Eastern campaign of 1854, as Aide-de-Camp to the Duke
of Cambridge, and was present at the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol
(Medal and Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish
Medal).
20 Colonel Staunton served with the 10th Regt. in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, including
the battle of Sobraon (Medal). Commanded the 31st Regt. in the Crimea from 22nd May
1855, and was present at the siege of Sebastopol and attacks on the Redan on the 18th June
and 8th Sept.; commanded 2nd Brigade 4th Division as a Brigadier General from 13th Nov.
(Medal and Clasp, Knight of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 4th
Class of the Medjidie).
21 Colonel Rochfort Scott served with the expedition against New Orleans, and was
present at the attack on the American Lines on the 8th Jan. 1815, and at the capture of Fort
Boyer. Served afterwards in France with the Army of Occupation, from July 1815 to Dec. 1818 ;
and with the allied Anglo-Turkish force in Syria, from Dec. 1840 to Nov. 1841 (Medal and Clasp).
22 Brigadier General Brown served throughout the Punjaub campaign, and was present
with the 24th at the passage of the Chenab and battles of Sadoolapore and Chillianwallah
(wounded), and as Major of the 29th Regt. at the battle of Goojerat (Medal and Clasps).
23 Major General M. W. Smith was appointed to the Turkish contingent with local rank
of Major General in 1855, and subsequently to the command of the Osmanli Irregular
Cavalry, and obtained the Turkish rank of Lieut. General (2nd Class of the Medjidie).
Commanded a Brigade during the Central India campaign; commanded at the recapture of
Chandairee in May 1858, also at the actions between Kota ka Serai and Gwalior on 17 th June;
commanded a Brigade in the action of the 19th June resulting in the capture of the city and
fortress of Gwalior, also at the siege and capture of Powree ; commanded at the surprise of
the rebel camp at Koondry, also in pursuit of Tantia Topee and the Rao Sahib (Medal and
Clasp and CB., frequently mentioned in despatches).
24 Colonel Perceval commanded the reserve Battalion 12th Regt. in the Kaffir war of
1851-52, and for his services was nominated a CB. (Medal).
25 Colonel Guy commanded the Infantry Brigade of Hope Grant’s Column at the defeat of
the Rebels on 4th Nov. 1857 at Marigunge ; commanded at the Alum Bagh from 13th to 30th
Nov. during Sir Colin Campbell’s advance to the relief of the Lucknow Garrison ; from 1st
Dec. 57 to 5th March 1858 commanded the 5th Fusiliers with Outram's Division at Alum
Bagh and engaged in repelling the numerous attacks as also in attacking and routing the
enemy on 22nd Dec. and 25th Feb. capturing guns ; commanded the 3rd Infantry Brigade at
the siege and capture of Lucknow, from 5th to 28th March (CB., Medal and Clasp).
26 Colonel Hennis served the campaign of 1815, and was present at the battle of Waterloo.
27 Colonel Seymour served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the Scots Fusilier
Guards, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava and Inkerman (wounded), siege of Sebastopol
(severely wounded), and sortie on the 26th Oct. (Medal and Clasps, Officer of the Legion of
Honor, 4th Class of the Medijdie, and Turkish Medal).
28 Colonel Steuart served with the 14th Lt. Drs. in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-9, in¬
cluding the battles of Chillianwallah (sabre wound) and Goojerat, pursuit of the enemy across
the Jhelum, and of the Affghans over the Indus through the Khyber Pass (Medal and Clasps).
