Wth (The East Essex) Regt. of Foot.
4 Lieut.-Colonel Browne served the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battle of Alma and siege of
Sebastopol, and was severely wounded in the trenches on the 20th October by a shell, occasioning
amputation of right arm and part of left hand (Medal and Clasps, Brevets of Major and Lt.-Col., Knight
of the Legion of Honor, and 5th Class of the Mqdjidie).
5 Major Hackett'served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as D. A. Q. M.Gen., including the battles in
the Crimea and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Sardinian Medal, and 5th Class of
the Medjidie).
7 Major Faussett served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June; he was Brigade
Major in the 3rd Division from 23rd April 1855 (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Sardinian Medal, and 5th
Class of the Medjidie).
8 Major Robinson served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June, and was Aide-de-
Camp to Brigadier-General Spencer in the trenches at the fall of Sebastopol 8th Sept., and in the expedition
to and capture of the Forts of Kinbourn (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Knight of the Legion of
Honor, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
9 Major Preston served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inker man,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal and Clasps,
Brevet of Major, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
10 Major Fletcher served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the .battles of Alma and Inkerman,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal and Clasps,
Brevet of Major, Sardinian Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
11 Captains Gregory, Hon. H. Handcock, and Cobham, served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, includ¬
ing the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery
on the 18th June (Medal and Clasps, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
12 Captain Hoskins (contused at Alma from a spent musket-ball) and Lieut. Ingham served the Eastern
campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack*
and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal and Clasps).
13 Captain Baillie served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman,
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and capture of Kinbourn—as Aide-de-Camp to General Spencer (Medal and
Clasps, and Sardinian Medal).
14 Lieut. Wood served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman,
siege and fall of Sebastopol (contusion from a round shot in the trenches 17th Oct. 54), and attack and
occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal and Clasps, and Sardinian Medal).
15 Lieuts. Rogers and Bower were at the fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp).
16 Lieut. Acklom served at the siege of Sebaspotol, including the attack on the 18thoJune (Medal and
Clasp).
18 Captain Walters, Lieuts. Smith and Kendall, served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol in 1855,
including the attack on the 18th June (Medal and Clasp).
19 Lieut. Pigott served in the trenches before Sebastopol and at its fall (Medal and Clasp).
20 Lieut. Mclnnis served in the Crimea (Medal and Clasp).
21 Lieut. Howorth served at the siege of Sebastopol, including the attack on the 18th June—severely
wounded (Medal and Clasp).
22 Capt. Staveley served in the trenches before Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp).
23 Ensign O’Neill served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Alma and siege of
Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps).
24 Paymaster Thomsett and Surgeon Mee served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles
of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps).
26 Qr.-Master Hart served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inker-
man, siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack and occupation of the Cemetery on the 18th June (Medal and
Clasps).

7 Capt# Hobbs served the Kaffir campaign of 1850-58 (Medal); commanded the rear-guard of the 91st
Regt. as a volunteer on 29th Dec. 1850, when two officers and twenty-two men were killed, and one officer
and eighteen men wounded; was appointed Captain Commandant of a native force of 330 men, which he
commanded for several months on patrol through the Amatolas and Waterkloof; in Dec. 1851 he was
again attached to the 91st Regt. as a volunteer; rejoined the 45th Regt. early in 1852, and accompanied
it on every patrol through the Waterkloof and Amatolas until the termination of the war; was several
times named in General Orders.
10 Quarter-Master Power served with the 60th IlifleBin the Kaffir war of 1851, 52, 53 (Medal).
