6 Major Robertson served in the Anglo-
Spanish Lesrion from July 1885 to June 1887.
Received a Medal for the action of 5th May
1837; the cross of the 1st Class of San Fer¬
nando, for the actions of the 15th and 16th
Marcli 1837; andanothermedalfor thestorm-
ing of Irun, 17th May following: severely
! wounded in the face by a splinter in the gene¬
ral action on the heights of Ametza, 1st Oct.
j 1836. Served with the 8th Regt. at the siege
of Delhi in 1857, including repulse of Sorties
on 9th, 14th (commanded the Regt.), and
18th July, and commanded detachments of 8th
and 61st Regts. at the capture of four guns
I in front of the advanced picket on 12th Aug.
Acted as D.A.Q.M.Gen. to Seaton’s Column in
Dec., including affairs of Gungaree, Puttiala,
and Mynpoorie. Present during operations
from 2nd to 22nd March 1858 resulting in the
occupation of Lucknow in the capacity of
Deputy Judge Advocate General to the Army
in the field (Brevet Major).

3 Colonel Greathed served with the 8th Regt. at the siege of Delhi in 1857 (in command from 30lh June to
the end of the siege), present at the repulse of Sorties on the 9th, 14th, and 18th July, and commanded the 3d
Brigade during the repulse of the enemy’s attack on 23d July ; commanded the Column sent to occupy the
Khoodsiabaglt and Ludlow Castle on 7th Sept, by which operation the batteries were advanced to within 180
yards of the walls; led the Regt. to the assault and served with it in the City; on the 24th Sept, left Delhi in
command of a Moveable Column and defeated the enemy at Bolnndshur, Allyghur, and Agra ; commanded the
3d Brigade of the Army under Lord Clyde from 10th Nov. 57 to 9th Jan. 58 and present at the action of
Dilkoosha in Lucknow during the operations resulting in the relief of the garrison; commanded advanced
pickets at Cawnpore from 30th Nov. to 7th Dec., including the affair of the 2d and action of the 6th Dec., also
present in the action of Klmdagunj and occupation of Futtehgkur (CB., and promoted Colonel for distinguished
service in the field).
4 Lt.-Colonel Brooke served with the 31st Regt. throughout the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan (Medal)
under General Pollock, and was present in the actions of Mazeena, Tezeen, and Jngdulluck (wounded), the
occupation of Cabool, and the different engagements leading to it. He commanded a Company during the
campaign, and received his wound whilst protecting some guns attached to the rear-guard. Served with the
8th Regt. at the siege of Delhi in 1857 including repulse of sorties on the 9th and 14th July, commanded the
Regt. during the repulse of the enemy’s attack on 23d July, present at the assault of the City and was one of
the four Field Officers who commanded in the trenches—severely wounded.
a Lt.Coloncl Hinde served with the 8th Regt. in Delhi from 20th Sept. 1837; commanded the Regt. in the
action of Bolundshur, affair of Allyghur, battle of Agra, action of Dilkoosha and relief of Lucknow under
Lord Clyde; affair of the 2d and action of the Gth Dec. at Cawnpore, and action of Khuduguuj (Brevet Lt.
Col. and CB).
8 Captain Wm. Bayly was present at the battle of Plattsburg in America in 1814. Served at ihe siege of
Delhi from 28th June’to 3d Sept. 1857. including repulse of Sorties on the 9th, 14th, 18th, and 23d July—com¬
manded the two flank Companies on the last occasion.
