117 War Services of the Lieutenant-Colonels.
28 Lieut.-Colonel De Visme has received the War Medal with one Clasp for the battle of
Fuentes d’Onor.
29 Lieut.-Colonel Dillon served in the expedition to St. Domingo in 1809. Served also in
China (Medal), and was present at the first capture of Chusan, storm and capture of the heights
above Canton, and of the sea-batteries on Amoy, and subsequent capture of the city.
29+ Lt.Colonel M. T. Doyle sailed in 1805 with Lord Catheart’s expedition to Hanover, and
being shipwrecked became a prisoner of war to the Dutch. In 1808 he went with Sir Arthur
Wellesley’s expedition to Portugal and was shot through the body at Roleia. In 1809 he was at
the siege, sortie, and capture of Flushing, and storming of Fort Ramakins. In 1810, 11, and 12
he served in the Peninsula in Picton’s Division,—in pursuit of Massena from Santarem, actions
at Pombal, Redinha, Roblida, Condeixa, Sabugal, and Fuentes d’ Onor ; siege of Badajoz in
1811, cavalry affair at El Bodon, siege and storm of Ciudad Rodrigo, siege and storm of Badt-
joz (a ball lodged in the cavity of the chest, unextracted—a ball through the right arm, which
was splintered—neck and head wounded) ; battle of Salamanca, capture of Madrid and the Re¬
tiro. In 1814 embarked for Canada in command of a detachmeift of the 5th—repelled two
attacks on the Transport by Privateers. Present with the Army at Plattsburg. He has re¬
ceived the War Medal with seven Clasps.
30f Lt.Colonel Drought served in the Peninsula, France, and Flanders with the 13th Dra¬
goons, and has received the War Medal with five Clasps for Albuhera, Vittoria, Nivelle, Orthes,
and Toulouse.
30 Lieut.-Colonel Falkiner served in the Peninsula with the 61st Regt., and was present at the
battles of Talavera, Busaco, and Salamanca, for which he has received the War Medal with three
Clasps.
31 Lieut.-Colonel Fendall served in the Peninsula from 1809 to the end of the war, including
tho battles of Albuhera, Usagre, Yittoria, and Toulouse.
31+ Lieut.-Colonel Feilden served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, with the 44th Regt.,
including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps).
32 Lord Charles FitzRoy was at the battle of Corunna, and served on the Walcheren Expe¬
dition with the Guards. In 1811, he joined Lord Hill’s staff, and was present at the siege and
capture of Badajoz, battles of Yittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Toulouse, and Waterloo,
and has received the War Medal with eight Clasps. He also served two years with the Army of
Occupation in France.
32t Lieut.-Colonel Flamank served in the Peninsula with the 51st Regt. from Jan. 1811, to
the end of that war in 1814, including the battle of Fuentes d’Onor, second siege of Badajoz,
covering the sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo and third siege of Badajoz, affair in front of Moresco,
battle of Salamanca, retreat from Burgos, battles of Vittoria and the Pyrenees (30th and 31st
July), passage of the Bidassoa, battles of Nivelle and St. Pe, and battle of Orthes. Served also
tho campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo and capture of Cambray.
33 Lieut.-Colonel Jonathan Forbes accompanied the 78th Regiment to Holland as a volun¬
teer, and was present in action at Merxem 13th January, also on the 2nd February 1814, and at
the bombardment of Antwerp. Served also the campaign of 1814 and 1815 in Flanders.
34 Lieut.-Colonel Forlong served the campaigns of 1813 and 1814, in Germany and Holland,
including the actions at Merxem, bombardment of Antwerp, and storming of Bergen-op-Zoom.
Served also the campaign of 1816, and was severely wounded at Quatre Bras—right collar bone
fractured and ball lodged in the right breast.
35 Lt.-Colonel Francis Fuller served with the 59th at the capture of the Cape of Good Hope in
1806; the Peninsular campaigns Irom Dec. 1812 to Feb. 1814, including tho battle of Vittoria,
siege of San Sebastian, and battle of the Nive, where he was wounded in the shoulder and
thigh. Campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo, storming of Cambriy. and capture
of Paris. Commanded the regiment at the siege and capture of Bhurtpore, in 1825-6 under
Lord Combormere, and was slightly wounded in the arm. He has received the Gold Medal
for San Sebastian, having commanded the regiment there ; and the Silver War Medal with
three Clasps for Yittoria, Nivelle, and Nive.
36 Lieut.-Colonel F. H. Fuller proceeded to the Peninsula in 1808, and was present with the
53rd Regt. at the capture of Oporto, battles of Talavera, Busaco, and Fuentes d’Onor, besides
various skirmishes. He has received the War Medal witli two Clasps for Talavera and Busaco.
37 Lieut.-Colonel Garner joined the 1st Battalion of the 40th Regt. in the Pyrenees in 1813,
and he served in the campaign of that and the following year. He has received the War Medal
with one Clasp for Nivelle.
37t Lieut.-Colonel Girardot served in the Peninsula with the Coldstream Guards from Jan.
1813 to the end of the War in 1814, and was present at the battle of Vittoria, the passage of the
Bidassoa, capture of St. Jean de Luz, battles of Nivelle and Nive, and investment of Bayonne,
and has received the War Medal with three Clasps. Served also with the Army of Occupation
in France.
38 Lieut.-Colonel Gooch served in Holland in 1814, and commanded an advanced party in
protection of the ladders at the attack on Bergen-op-Zoom. Present with the Light Companies
of the second Brigade of Guards at the baltle of Quatre Bras, and assisted in the defence of
Hougoumont at the battle of Waterloo.
