175 Major General Nepean served in the Peninsula with the 16th Light Dragoons and was
present at the battle of the Nive on the 9th Dec. 1813, for which action he has received the War
I Medal with one Clasp. He served also the Waterloo campaign.
176 Major General Trevor served with the 33rd in Germany and Holland in 1813 and 14,
including both attacks on Merxem, operations in front of Antwerp, and the storming of
Bergen-op-Zoom. Served also the campaign of 1815, including the action at Quatre Bras,
retreat on the following day, battle of Waterloo, advance to and capture of Paris. Also iu
Jamaica with the 33rd, and in China with the 59 th.
177 Lord Albemarle served the Waterloo campaign with the 14th Foot.
178 Major General Barlow served as a General in the trenches during the siege of Sebas-
] topol, and commanded a Brigade at its fall (Medal and Clasp, Sardinian Medal, and 3rd Class
of the Medjidie).
179 Major General J.N. Jackson served in the Peninsula from 1810 to the end of the war in
1814, including the siege of Cadiz, Lines at Torres Yedras, Massena’s retreat from Portugal,
actions and affairs at Pombal, Redinha, Leira, Condeixa, F'lcur-de-Lis, Guarda, Foz d’Arouce,
and Sabugal; battle of Puentes d’Onor, 3rd and 5th May, siege of Badajoz in June and July,
1811, actions at El Bodon and Guinaldo, siege and storm Of Ciudad Rodrigo, third siege of
Badajoz andstorm of the Castle by escalade, 6th April 1812; battle of Salamanca, capture of
Madrid, the Retiro, and Fort La China, and in command of an escort of the third Division in
i| charge of the garrison of Fort La China en route to Ciudad Rodrigo. Retreat to Portugal,
i Oct. and Nov. 1812, battles of Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, and Orthes; actions at Vie
i Bigorre and Tarbes, battle of Toulouse, aud all the various minor affairs during that period.

180 Major General Trydell served at the capture of the Cape of Good Hope in 1806, and was
"! present at the4>attle of Biueberg. He served also in the Kandian Insurrection of 1817 and 18,
i; in Ceylon.
181 Major General John Clark served the campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo
lj and storming of Cambray. Served also the campaigns of 1824 and 25 in Ava, including the taking
| of Rangoon, Kimendine, Kamaroot, and Mahattee. Led the attack upon the fortified heights
1 at Aracan, and was severely wounded in the neck, arm, and left side.
182 Major General Harvey served at the investment of Kolapore in the East Indies, in Sept.
i;| 1827. Employed on the Staff in the late operations against Ibrahim Pacha, in Syria, and was
1 present at the skirmish with the Egyptian troops near Askelon, 15th Jan. 1841. Commanded
the third Brigade of the Field Force at the capture of the Mahratta fortresses of Panulla and
!l Pownughur on the 1st Dec. 1844, and received the thanks of the Bombay Government.
[I 183 Major General Michel was nominated a CB. after the termination of the Kaffir w'ar in
1853, in consideration of his distinguished services in the Kaffir wars of 1846-47 and of 1851-3
! (Medal). Was nominated to the 2nd Class of the Medjidie for service with the late Turkish
| Contingent.
184 Major General Warren served under the Duke of Wellington in 1815. Commanded the
ij55th Regt. in an expedition against the Rajah of Coorg in April 1834 (Colonel Mill being in
i command of the column until a few days before he was killed): led a successful assault on and
j captured the stockade of Kissenbally; and was severely wounded in an attack on the stockade
of Soamwarpettali. Served in China from 1841 to 1844 (Medal): commanded the 55‘h in the
; expedition up the Yang-tse-kiang, and was severely wounded at the storming and capture of
i Chiukiangfoo, where he was personally engaged with three Tartars, whom he killed. Served
the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, commanded the Regt. at the battle of Alma (received two
scontused wounds), siege of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie on the 26th October; com-
i manded the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, at the battle of Inkerman, and was severely and also
slightly wounded; again slightly wounded at the attack on the Redan on the 8th Sept. (Medal
i and Clasps, Officer of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian Medal, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie).
[ 185 Major General Malcolm served on the China expedition (Medal).
186 Major General R. H. Wynyard served with the force iu New Zealand from Oct. 1845
until Jan. 1847, in command of the 58th Regt.; commanded the advance Division up the Kowa
(Kowa River, and on through the interior from the landing up to the position before Ruape-
kapeka, and entered the breach with the stormers in the assault on Kawiti's Pah on 11 Jan.
1846. Appointed to the command of the Forces in New Zealand in Jan. 1851, held Her
Majesty’s Commission as Lieut.-Governor of New Ulster from 1851 to 1853, and administered
:the government of the whole Colony from Dec. 1853 to Sept. 1855.
187 Major General Sandilands served with the expedition to Walcheren; also the campaign
if 1815, and was engaged on the 17 th June with the Horse Artillery in covering the retiring
movement from Quatre Bras, and on the 18th of June he was present at the battle of Waterloo.
188 Lord William Paulet served the Eastern campaign of 1854, as Assistant Adjutant General
j;o the Cavalry Division, including the battles of the Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, and siege
if Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, CB.. Officer of the Legion of Honor, Commander 1st Class
st. Maurice and St. Lazarus, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie).
