War Services of the Medical Officers.
Peninsula, from Dec. 1809 to Nov. 1813, including the defence of Cadiz, battles of Busaco’
Puentes d’Onor, and Salamanca; siege of Burgos Castle, and actions in the Pyrenees. He has
received the War Medal with five Clasps.
43 Doctor Boggie served in the Peninsula and has received the War Medal with four Clasps
for Roleia, Yimiera, Talavera, and Puentes d’Onor.
44 Doctor Boyle was actively employed in Ireland during the rebellion of 1798, and after¬
wards at the Helder in 1799 ; also in Sicily and Egypt from Dec. 1806 till June 1812, as
Surgeon of the 62nd regt. He was employed on the eastern coast of Spain on the Medical
Staff in 1812, 13, and 14, and was at the affair of Biar, battle of Castalla, at Tarragona in
June and Aug. 1813, and at the retreat from Ordal and Villa Franca. He had charge of the
General Hospitals at Alicant, Castalla, and Valencia ; was senior medical officer with the Head
Quarters of the Army under Sir Wm. Clinton during the blockade of Barcelona; was at Genoa
and Corsica, and accompanied the army from the Mediterranean to Bermuda under General
Gosselin, as principal medical officer, and was at the Penobscot.
45 Mr. Chenevix served the Waterloo campaign with the Coldstream Guards.
45* Mr. Colclough served in the Mahratta war from Aug. 1812 to Dec. 1813 ; the Kandian
campaign of 1815, including the capture of Kandy in the island of Ceylon. Deccan campaigns
of 1818 and 19, including the storm and capture of Capaul Droog.
46 Mr. Cotton served with the 14th Foot at the siege and capture of Bhurtpore in 1825-6.
46* Mr. Fmnie served the Waterloo campaign with the Royals.
47 Doctor Pogo served the campaign of 1808-9, under Sir John Moore, including the battle
of Corunna. Expedition to Walcheren. On a Secret Expedition in March 1810, which landed
at Cadiz in April, reinforcing the army under Lord Lynedoch. The Ordnance force being
greater than an ordinary regiment (1150 men), and Doctor Fogo being senior medical officer, he
was given the local rank of Surgeon : remained at Cadiz until July 1811, when he returned to
England for the benefit of his health. Went to Portugal in March 1812, and from July was
again Senior Ordnance Medical Officer at Cadiz. When the siege was raised in August, he
accompanied the force which followed the ret riug French army ; but the pursuit being given up
at Seville, he returned to Cadiz, and remained there until its final evacuation in Aug. 1814.
Served also the campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo, and advance to Pans. He
has received the War Medal with one Clasp for Corunna.
48 Mr. Fraser served in the Peninsula and has received the War Medal with three Clasps for
Corunna, Nivelle, and Ntve.
49 Mr. Galliers served in the Peninsula with the Royals and has received the War Medal with
two Claspr for Vittoria and St. Sebastian. He served also the Waterloo campaign.
50 Mr. Glasco served in the Peninsula with the 83rd and has received the War Medal with
nine Clasps for Talavera, Puentes d'Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, Py¬
renees, Nivelle, and Nive.
51 Mr. Good served with the expedition to Copenhagen in 1807; proceeded with the army
to the Peninsula in 1808, and served there until the end of the war, including the passage of
the Douro, taking of Oporto, battles of Busaco and Fuentes d'Onor, sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo
and Badajoz, battle of Salamanca, capture of Madrid, siege of Burgos, battle of Vittoria, siege
of San Sebastian, passage of the Bidassoa, the Nive, and the Adour, and investment of Bayonne.
Present at Quatre Bras and Waterloo. He has received the War Medal with six Clasps.
52 Mr. John Griffith served at the capture of Martinique in 1809, and subsequently in the
Peninsula: he has received the War Medal with four Clasps for Martinique, Busaco, Fuentes
d’Onor. and Vittoria.
53 Mr. Harrison served in the Walcheren expedition 1809; at Cadiz and in the Peninsula
in 1811, 12, and 13; expedition to Holland, 1814 ; Netherlands and France from 1814 till 1818.
Present at the assault of Seville, bombardment of Antwerp, storming of Bergen-op-Zoom,
battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo, and taking of Peronne.
54 Doctor Hodson served in Egypt in 1801.
55 Doctor Hunter served with the Coldstream Guards at the blockade of Bayonne in 1814 ;
also the campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo.
56 Doctor Jeyes served in the Peninsula from Jan. 1813 to the end of the war, including the
affiir at Morales, battles of Vittoria, Pyrenees, Orthes, and Toulouse. Also the campaign of
1815, and was present at Waterloo. He has received the AVar Medal with three Clasps.
57 Mr. Jones served in the Peninsula as an Assistant Surgeon of the Rifle Brigade and from
Sept. 1812 as Surgeon of the 40th, and has received the War Medal with twelve Claspt for
Corunna, Busaco, Fuentes d'Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees,
Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse. He served also the Waterloo campaign.
57* Mr. Kenny served at the capture of the Cape of Good Hope in 1806 : also at the capture
of Bahadurpore and Asseerghur in the East Indies.
58 Mr. Lightbody served at Gibraltar during the epidemic in 1804 ; with the army in Sicily
in 1807 and 8 ; in the Peninsula from March 1812 to April 1813 ; and again from April 1814
to the end of the war, including the defence of Alba de Tormes and retreat from Salamanca.
59 Doctor M’Arthur served at the capture of Guadaloupe in 1815.
