War Services of the Quarter-Masters.
66 Quarter-Master Simpson has received the War Medal with one Clasp for Toulouse.
67 Quarter-Master Sleator served in Sicily and in the Peninsula from 1805 to the end of that
war in 1814, and has received the War Medal with one clasp for the Pyrenees.
68 Quarter-Master Smart served in the Peninsula with the 6th and has received the War
Mtdal with one Clasp for Vittoria.
69 Quarter-Master Smedley served in the Peninsula with the 77th, from July 1811 to Feb.
1813, and again from Oct. 1813 to the end of that war in 1814.
70 Quarter-Master Steel served in the Peninsula with the 1st Life Guards and has received
the War Medal with two Clasps for Yittoria and Toulouse.
71 Quarter-Master John Stephens served in the Nepaul war in the East Indies.
72 Quarter-Master Stevens served in the Peninsula and has received the War Medal with
three Clasps for Corunna, Nivelle, and Nive.
73 Quarter-Master Stubbs served at the blockade of Malta, in 1800; and in the Peninsula
from June 1809 to the end of that war in 1814; including the battles of Talavera and Busaco,
siege and capture of Badajoz, and battles of Yittoria, Pampeluna, Orthes, and Toulouse. He
has recei- e. the War Medal with eleven Clasps.
74 Quarter-Master Tiller served with the 5 th at Walcheren, and was severely wounded in the
head, and slightly in the left hand at the siege of Flushing on the 7th Aug. 1809. In the Penin¬
sula from 1812 to May 1814, including the battles of Vittoria, the Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse.
He has received the War Medal with four Clasps.
75 Quarter-Master Troy served in the campaigns in the Peninsula, France, and Flanders with
the Royal Horse Guards, and was present at every action in which that Regt. was engaged, in¬
cluding the battle of Waterloo. He has received the War Medal with two Clasps for Vittoria
and Toulouse.
76 Quarter-Master Waddell served in the Peninsula and has received the War Medal with three
Clasps for Fuentes d’Onor, Vittoria, and Toulouse. He served also the Waterloo Campaign.
77 Quarter-Master Wallis served in the Burmese war.
78 Quarter-Master Ward served in the Peninsula with the 30ih from March 1809 to June
1813, including the defence of Cadiz from 4th June to 25th Sept. 1810 ; occupation of the Lines
of Torres Vedras, pursuit of Massena, actions of Sabugal, Almeida, and Barba del Puerco, battle
of Fuentes d’Onor, siege of Badajoz, and action of Villa Muriel. Served the campaign of 1814 in
Holland, under Sir Thomas Graham ; and that of 1815, under the Duke of Wellington. He has
received the War Medal with three Clasps.
79 Quarter-Master Webster served in the Peninsula with the 2nd Life Guards and has re¬
ceived the War Medal with one Clasp for Vittoria.
80 Quarter-Master Weston served with the expedition to Hanover in 1805; and with that to
Copenhagen in 1807. Served also in the Peninsula from 30th Dec. 1808 to the end of that war
in 1814, including the passage of the Douro and capture of Oporto, battles of Busaco and
Fuentes d Onor, siege of Ciudad Rodrigo, covering the siege of Badajoz, battle of Salamanca,
capture of Madrid, siege of Burgos, battle of Vittoria, siege of San Sebastian, passage of the
Bidassoa, battle of the Nive (9th to 13th Dec.), passage of the Adour, investment of Bayonne
and repulse of the sortie. He has received the War Medal with five Clasps.
81 Quarter-Master Williams was present with the Bulfs at the battle of Punniar on the 29th
Dec. 1843, and has received the Bronze Star.
82 Quarter-Master Willox served with the 54th in Stralsund under General Gibbs in ISlSj
and the subsequent campaign in Holland under Lord Lvnedoch, including the attack on Morxem
and bombardment of Antwerp. He served also the campaign of 1815, including the storming and
capture of Paris ; and finally in the Burmese war, including the attack and capture of Mahatee,
and the assault and capture of Arracan.
83 Quarter-Master Thomas Wright served in South America in 1807, under General White-
lock; also at Walcheren in 1809, including the siege of Flushing.
