1 Lord Stair went to Flanders in 1794, and served on the Continent until the return of the British
army, in 1795. In October, 1805, he accompanied the Expedition to Hanover. In July, 1807, lie went to
Zealand, and was present at the siege of Copenhagen.
2 Licut.-Col. Garrett served in the Peninsula with the 6th Division in 1811, and with the 4th Division in
1812 and 13, and was present in all the actions, sieges, and smaller affairs in which those two Divisions were
respectively engaged from Fuentes d’Onor in May 1811, until the end of 1818, when he was sent to England
for recovery from his wounds. He received two wounds at the attack of the Forts at Salamanca, on whicli
occasion the command of the Light Company of the Queen’s and some Artillery devolved upon him, ho
being the only surviving officer of the column he attacked with; and he was again severely wounded in
the Pyrenees. He has received the War Medal with four clasps for Fuentes d’Onor, Salamanca, Vittoria,
and Pyrenees.
3 Major Maclean served with the 43rd in the Peninsula from June 1812 to the end of that war in 1814,
including the passage of the Huebra (carried the Regimental Colour), battle of Vittoria, action of Vera
when Moult attempted to relieve Man Sebastian and again when the Allies passed tiie Bidassoa; battles of
the Nivello (wounded), the Nive, and Toulouse. Present also in the action before New Orleans on the 8th
Jan. 1815, and served also in the Campaign of 1815. Ho has received the W’ar Medal with five clasps for
Vittoria, Pyrenees, hivelie, Nive, and Toulouse.
