Fuentes d'Onor.
95 Lieut.-Colonel Cuppage served in the Peninsula with the 39th and was present at the battles
of Busaco, Albuhera, Pyrenees, JVivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse, for which he has received
the War Medal with seven Clasps.
96 Lieut.-Colonel Norchffe served in the Peninsula with the 4th Dragoons, and was present
at the battles of Talavera, Busaco, and Albuhera; cavalry action of Usagre, and battle of Sala¬
manca, in which last he was severely wounded and taken prisoner. He has received the War
Medal with four Clasps.
97 Lieut.-Colonel Johnson served with the 17th Light Dragoons in South America in 1806
and 7, at the siege and storming of Monte Video, and in the expedition of Buenos Ayres, during
which service the regiment was armed with muskets and acted as infantry.
98 Lieut-Colonel Djrby served in Hanover in 1805; at the siege of Copenhagen in 1807;
and the Corunna campaign in 1808-9.
99 Lieuh-Colonel King served in a mortar-boat in the Faro of Messina for two months in
1810. Advanced into the United States with Sir George Prevost’s army, and commanded a
battery against Plattsburg.
100 Lieut.-Colonel Macdonald accompanied the expedition to Hanover in 1805; joined the
army in Sicily in 1806, and was employed with it in its various operations until 1810; in the
latter year he went with the expedition to Naples, and was present at the capture of Ischia
and Procida; returned to Sicily and employed against the French army in 1811; in 1812 was
employed in Spain, including the battle of Castalla, and siege of Tarragona; embarked for
Canada in 1814, and was present at the operations before Plattsburg. He served also the
campaign of 1815, and received three wounds at Waterloo, viz., in the leg, in the neck, and
through the body, wounding the lungs.
101 Lieut.-Colonel Mudge served in the Peninsula from March 1809 to June 1810, and has
received the War Medal with one Clasp for the battle of Talavera.
102 Lieut.-Colonel Sherbourne Williams served at the capture of Guadaloupe in 1815.
103 Lieut.-Colonel John Cox served, with the exception of a few months, throughout the
whole of the Peninsular war with the 95th (Rifle Brigade), commencing with the first affair,
when his company formed part of the detachment which dislodged the French from the post of
Obidos, 15th Aug. 1808. He was also engaged with the enemy in the following battles, sieges,
affairs, &c., viz., Roleia, Vimiera, surrender of Lisbon, Bridge of Benevente, in front of Tala¬
vera, Barba del Puerca, Galliuos, Barquillo, Almeida, Mora Morta, Sula, Busaco, Alenquier,
Aruda, Santarem, Pombal, Redmha, Condeixa, Caza Nova, Foz d’Arouce, Freixadas, Sabugal,
Almeida (10th to 14th April 1811), Marialva Bridge, Fuentes d’Onor, Naves d’Avar, Forcy, also
Ciudad Rodrigo (siege and storming), San Milan, Vittoria, Echarrianos, Pampeluna, heights of
Santa Barbara, Pass of Echallar, Vera, Pass of Vera, Nivelle, Nive, and Tarbes. Served also
the campaign of 1815, including the affairs of out-posts on the 17th June, the battle of Waterloo,
and capture of Paris. Wounded in the right shoulder by a musket-ball at Vimiera; compound
fracture of the left arm by a musket-shot at the storming of Ciudad Rodrigo; left leg badly
fractured by a musket-shot at Tarbes. He has received the War Medal with ten Clasps.
104 Lieut.-Colonel Murton served in the North Sea, and the Helder expedition in 1799;
served in the Egyptian expedition and the East Indies in 1801; the West Indies (slightly
wounded) in 1804; coast of France, and engaged with the enemy’s flotilla and batteries, in
1805; the Mediterranean in 1806, engaged in cutting out the enemy’s vessels from under bat¬
teries. and was voted a sword from the Patriotic Fund; in 1809, coast of Spain, and aiding the
Guerillas; served in Holland in 1813. Medal for services in Egypt.
105 Lieut.-Colonel Booth’s services :—Siege of Callinger (wounded at the assault). Nepaul
war in 1814, including the sieges of Kolunga, Nahu, and Jetuck. Mahratta war in 1817,18,
including the sieges of Singhur, Latarak, Pourunder, and Wursetta. Burmese war in 1824-5,
wounded at the storming of Martaban.
106 Lieut.-Colonel Greaves served with the 7th Fusiliers in America, in the campaign of 1814,
and was also present in the attack on New Orleans, on the 8th Jan. 1815.
107 Lieut.-Colonel Charlton served in the Peninsula with the 61st from June 1809 to Feb.
1810, and again from March 1813 to July 1814, including the battles of Talavera, the Pyrenees
on the 28th, 29th, and 30th July, the Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Tarbes, and Toulouse, besides va¬
rious minor actions and affairs. Wounded on the 28th July in the Pyrenees, again at the N.ve
when in command of the Light Infantry Companies of the Left Brigade of the 6th division; twice
severely wounded at Toulouse, the second wound received when commanding the 61st Foot.
He has received the Gold Medal for Toulouse, and the Silver War Medal with five Clasps for
Talavera, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nivc, and Orthes.
108 Lieut.-Colonel Alex. M. Fraser was employed in the expedition against Sambas, in the
island of Borneo.
109 Lieut.-Colonel Walker served at Copenhagen.
110 Lieut.-Colonel Hall served at the capture of the Isle of France in 1810; on the expedition
to Java, in 1811, including the actions at Batavia and Weltevreiden, storming the entrenched
lines at Fort Cornelis, storming the heights of Serandole, and capture of the fort of Samarang.
