War Services of the Lieutenants.
including the defence of Cadiz from April to Sept. 1810, lines of Torres Vedras, actions of Redinha,
Condeixa, and Sabugal ; battle of Fuentes d’Onor, second siege of Badajoz, action of El Bodon,
siege of Ciudad Rodrigo, siege and assault of Badajoz, battle of Salamauca, capture of Madrid,
battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, and Nivelle, at which last he was dangerously wounded through
the neck by a musket-ball, which carried away the lower part of the ear.
144 Lieut. Thweng served in the Peninsula, and was present at the battles of Talavera and I
Busaco, and siege of Badajoz.
145 Lieut. Trench served at Waicheren, in 1809.
146 Lieut. Wm. O. Warren served the campaign of 1815 with the 30th, and was present at the |
battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo, at which last he was severely wounded.
147 Lieut. George Watson served in the Peninsula with the 3rd Dragoons from June 1813 to the j
end of that war in 1814, and was present at the battle of Toulouse.
148 Lieut. Wm. Henry Watson served the campaigns of 1813 and 14 in Spain and France with
the Royal Dragoons.
149 Town-Major Henry White served in Holland and Flanders, under the Duke of York, and
was present in the following actions, sieges, &c., viz. St. Amand, Famais, Valenciennes, Lincelles,
Dunkirk, Cateau and Vaux, Roubaix and Lannoi, Mouveaux, Malines, Boxtel, Nimeguen, Tiel,
Fort St. Andre, landing and capture of the Fielder in 1799, Zyp Dyke, Bergen, and Gallants Ogg
(severely wounded in the neck), andAlkmaar. In Spain with Sir John Moore, at Benevente, Lugo, j
and Corunna. Subsequently in the Peninsula with the Duke of Wellington, including the battle
of Busaco, actions at Pombal, Redinha, Foz d’Arouce, and Guarda ; different affairs on the retreat |
to and advance from Torres Vedras, actions at Sabugal, battle of Fuentes d’Onor (severely wounded
in the right hand and left wrist), actions at Aldea de Ponte and F'uente Guinaldo, first siege of
Badajoz, action at El Bodon, different affairs during the investment of Ciudad Rodrigo, also siege
and storm of that fortress, battle of Salamanca (severely wounded in the throat), capture of Madrid
and the Retiro, affairs on the retreat from Madrid and Salamanca, battle of Vittoria, where he was
severely wounded in the shoulder joint and back.
150 Lieut. Wilford served in the Peninsula, and was present at the siege of Burgos, and battles
of Vittoria and Toulouse.
151 Lieut. Willis served at Waicheren, and was present at the siege of Flushing. Served also
the Peninsular campaigns of 1811, 12, and 14, including the 2nd and 3rd sieges of Badajoz, in¬
vestment of Bayonne and repulse of the sortie.
152 Lieut. Wills served in the Peninsula, and was present at the siege of San Sebastian, and
battle of Toulouse.
153 Lieut. Windie served with the 10th at the siege of Scylla Castle, in 1808. Present with
the Anglo-Sicilian army during the whole of its operations on the coast of the Faro, against Murat.
With the army on the eastern coast of Spain, in 1812 and 13.
154 Lieut. Frederick Wood was severely wounded at Waterloo.
155 Lieut. Henry Wood served in the Peninsula with the 76th, from June, 1813, to the end of
that war in 1814, including the siege of San Sebasuan, passage of the Brdassoa, battles of Nivelle
and Nive, and investment of Bayonne- Served afterwards in the American war, and was present
in the action of Plattsburg.
156 Lieut. Woods served in the Peninsula with the 48th, in 1810 and 1811, and with the
4th Dragoon Guards, in 1812, including the Lines of Torres Vedras, pursuit of Massena, and the
operations in the Alemtejo ; action of Campo Mayor, siege of Olivenqa, and first siege of Badajoz ;
with Colonel Colborne’s Brigade, when, by a rapid advance, several convoys were intercepted, and
the country cleared to Guadalcanal and the fortified post of Benelcazar ; battle of Albuhera, where
he received two wounds and some severe contusions, and was taken prisoner in the charge of the
Polish Lancers, but subsequently escaped and rejoined the army on its advance.
157 Lieut. T. T. Worsley served in the Peninsula with the 3rd Battalion of the 95th (Rifle
Brigade), from 1811 to the end of that war in 1814, including the sieges and captures of Ciudad
Rodrigo and Badajoz,—severely wounded at the assault; battles of Salamanca, Viltoria, the Py- |
renees, Orthes, Tarbes, and Toulouse, besides numerous skirmishes. Served also the campaign of
1815, and was severely wounded at the battle of Waterloo.
158 Lieut. Wm Wright (h. p. Rifle Brigade) served the campaign of 1815, and was severely ]
wounded at Waterloo.
