for Talavera and Salamanca.

3 Major Cooke served four
years in the 1st West York
Militia prior to entering the
43rd Light Infantry, with which
he served at Walcheren in 1809;
in .Portugal, 1811 ; siege and
storming of Ciudad Rodrigo;
siege and storming of Badajoz
(wounded at the assault); battle
ofSalamanca; affair of San Mu¬
noz ; battle of Yittoria (wound¬
ed); battles ot the Pyrenees; San Sebastian;
the attack on the heights of Vera, 7th Oct.,
when the left wing of the army crossed the Bi-
dassoa; battles of the Nivelle and the Nive ;
affair at Tarbes ; battle of Toulouse ; battle in
front of New Orleans, 8th Jan. 1815; served four
years with the army of occupation in France.
Employed on a special mission at Constantino¬
ple in 1836.
4 Paymaster Dean served in the Peninsula
from April 1809 until the end of the war. Pre¬
sent at Waterloo.
