The King's Colours
1st Battalion.—Gules (crimson): In the centre the Star of the Order of the Garter proper, enaigned with
the Imperial Crown; in base the Sphinx superscribed “Egypt.”
2nd Battalion.—Gules (crimson): In the centre a Star of eight points argent within the Garter, ensigned
with the Imperial Crown; in base the Sphinx superscribed ‘fEgypt ”; in the dexter Canton the Union.
3rd Battalion.—As for the lat Battalion, and for difference in the dexter Canton, the Union, and Issuing
therefrom in bend dexter, a pile wavy or.
The Regimental Colours*.—
The Union: In the centre a Company Badge ensigned with the Imperial Crown; In base the Sphinx
superscribed "Egypt.”
The 24 Company Badges are borne In rotation, 3 at a time, one on the Regimental Colour of each of the
3 Battalions.
The following honorary distinctions are borne upon each of the King's and Regimental Colours :—
“ Tangier, 1680,” “Namur, 1696,” "Gibraltar, 1704-5,” "Oudenarde,” " Malplaquet,” “Dettlngen,”
"Lincelles,” "Talavera,” "Barrosa,” "Fuentes d’Onor,” "Nive,” " Peninsula,” "Waterloo,” "Alma,”
" Inkerman,” " Sevastopol,”'" Egypt, 1882,” “Tel-el-Kebir,” " Suakin, 1885,” " South Africa, 1899-1902,”
