1 Lt.-Col. Law served with the 71st Regt.on Sir J. Moore's retreat at Lugo and Corunna, in 1808-9; at the
siege of Flushing, in 1809; subsequently in the Peninsula, including the affair at Sobral, Massena's retri'at,
battle of Fuentes D'Onor, 3d and 6th May 1811 (wounded in two places); covering 1st and 2d sieg«s of
Badajoz, actions at Arroya de Molino and Almaraz, defence of Alba de Tormes, battles of the Pyrenees
and capture of enemy's convoy at Elisonda, in July 1813; battle of the Nive, aft'aiv at Canibo, employed
in an armed boat at Urt on the river Adour, battle near Bayonne 13th Dec. 1813, affairs at Hellette,
Arrivarette, St. Palais, and Aire; battle of Orthes, and affair at 'I'arbes, where he was severely woundeil.
Served also the campaign of 1815, including the battle of Waterloo—severely wounded and horse killed
by a cannon-shot. Served afterwards with the army of occupation in France. He has received the War
Hedal with six clasps.

destroyed the fortified town of Bambacoo, Bth May ; attacked and partially destroyed the fortified town of
Keemin", 7th May ; and defeated the enemy in an action on the plains of Quenc>lla. He also served with
a detachment of the 2nd and 3rd West India Regta. in the combined aitack of a llriiish ami French naval
and land force iMider Commodore Fanshawe, in the attack and total deleat of pirate.s at the island of
Basis, Jeba River, Western Africa, 12tli Dec. 1849.
2 Lieut. Child served with an expedition 80 miles up the Gambia, in 1849, and was engaged at the storm
and destruction of the fortified town of Bambacoo, Cth May ; at the attack and partial destruction of the
fortified town of Keeming, 7th May; and in the action with and defeat of the enemy on the plains of
Quenella, 8th May.
