Hope, in 1806. Senior officer on board the Astell, Indiaman, when that ship and two others
w-ere for some hours engaged with two French frigates and a corvette, in July 1810.
77 Colonel Howard' served on the Continent, in 1793 and 94; in St. Domingo and the
West India Islands, from 179.5 to 1799. Served also in the Peninsula, and was most se¬
verely wounded at the battle of Talavera, 27th July, 1809, and made prisoner.
78 Colonel Maclachlan was honourably mentioned in Colonel Gillespie's dispatch, for his
conduct at the supjiression of the mutiny at Vellore, in 1806, on which occasion he was the
senior officer present, and was severely wounded.
79 Colonel Nicolls has served in every quarter of the globe, and has been several times
severely wounded.
80 Colonel Whetham served with the expedition to South America, and was severely
wounded (right leg amputated) at the assault of Monte Video.
81 Colonel Thomas Wildman served with the 7th Hussars in the campaign of 1808—9
under Sir John Moore, and was present in the cavalry engagements at Mayorga, Benevente,
and throughout the retreat to Corunna. Served also the Peninsular campaigns of 1813 and
14, including the investment and surrender of Pampeluna, the battle of Orthes, and inter¬
mediate affairs. Served also the campaign of 1815 as aide-de-camp to the Earl of Uxbridge,
including the action at Quatre Bras, retreat on the 17th, and battle of Waterloo, at which
last he was slightly wounded.
82 Colonel Robbins served in the Peninsula, France, and Flanders, with the 7th Hussars,
and was severely wounded at Waterloo.
83 Colonel George Lewis served iu Sir Richard Strachan's action, 4th Nov. 1805. Com¬
manded a Battalion of Marines in the American war, including the action at Bladensburg,
attack on Baltimore, and various skirmishes in the Chesapeake.
84 Colonel Dumas served at the blockade of Malta, in 1799 ; in Egypt in 1801, and agaia
in 1807 ; and at the battle of Maida. Medal for services in Egypt.
85 Colonel Payler served in the Peninsula under Sir John ftloore, and subsequently under
the Duke of Wellington, including the battle of Fuentes d'Onor, siege of Ciudad Rodrigo,
and battles of the jNivelle and Nive.
86 Sir Maxwell Wallace served the campaign of 1815, and was present in the action at
Quatre Bras, the retreat on the 17th June, and battle of W^aterloo. On the 16th June 1815,
he was appointed, by Major-Geueral Baron Dornberg, Orderly Officer, to assist his Brigade-
Major Captain Robais ; the General's Aide-de-Camp Captain Krauchenburg being taken
prisoner the following day, he took Robais as Aid-de-Camp, and named Capt. Wallace act¬
ing Brigade-IMajor ; and, Robais being killed on the 18th, the Duke of Wellington confirmed
Capt. Wallace on the Major-General's recommendation.
87 Colonel Edward Wildman served in the Peninsula from April 1809 to Sept. 11, and
again from July 1812 to the end of that war in 1814, including the battles of Talavera and
Busaco, action at Redinha, battle of Albuhera, retreat from Salamanca to Portugal,battles of
Vittoria, Pyrenees, Tarbes, and Toulouse. Served also the campaign of 1815, and had three
horses killed under him at Waterloo. Received two severe sabre wounds in the head and
arm, and made prisoner at the battle of Albuhera.
88 Colonel the Hon. John Finch served in the Peninsula from Nov. 1812 to the end of
that war in 1814, and received a sabre wound at the battle of Vittoria.
89 Sir Augustus d'Este served at New Orleans on the staff of Sir John Lamhert, and
behaved with great gallantry.
90 Colonel Cochrane landed with the first army in Portugal on the 3d. Aug. 1808, and
served in the Peninsula during the campaigns of 1808, 9, 10, 11, and part of 1812, including
the battles and sieges of Roliya, Vimiera, Talavera, Busaco, Redinha, Olivenya, Badajoz
(1st siege"), and Ciudad Rodrigo. Served nearly two years in Canada during the American
war, as aid-de-camp to the Governor-General and Commander of the Forces, Lieut.-General
Sir George Prevost.
91 Colonel Hector Maclaine served in the Peninsula, and has received a medal for the
battle of Nivelle.
92 Colonel Simpson served in the Peninsula from May 1812 to May 1813, including the
latter part of the defence of Cadiz, and the attack on Seville. Served also the campaign of
1815, and was severely wounded at Quatre Bras.
93 Colonel M'Gregor was actively employed in Sicily and Italy in 1806, including the
skirmish at St. Euphemie, battle of Maida, attack on Scylla Castle, and capture of Catrone.
Campaign of 1807 in Egypt, including the attacks in the Desert, and siege of Hosetta.
Campaign in Holland iu 1809, including the attacks and captures of Ter Vere, and Flushing.
Campaigns in the Peninsula during part of 1813 and 14. Capture of Corsica in May 1814.
Wounded through the right shoulder by a rausket-shot at the battle of Maida.
94 Colonel Seton served in India, and crossed the Desert with Sir David Baird's army
to Egypt in 1801, for which he has received the medal. Next served in South America in
1807, and was present at the attack on Buenos Ayres, where he was wounded. Subse¬
quently in the Peninsula, including the following battles and sieges, besides numerous affairs
of minor importance, viz. Talavera, Busaco, Sabugal, first investment of Badajoz, Fuentes
