» Lt.General Drysdale served with the 4th Light Dragoons during the campaign in Aflghanistan under Lord
Keano, and was present at the siege and capture of Ghuznee (Medal). Served with thegth Lancers in the G.valior
campaign, including the action at Punniar, 29th Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). The Sutlej campaign in 1845-46, inuhiding
the battle ofSobraon (Medal and Clasp). The Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Chenab
at Ramnuggnr, and battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). The Indian campaign of
i857-';9, and present at Delhi during the siege operations, commanding the Regt. from i8th Aug. to the fall of the
city—"horse shot at the assault; commanded the Regt. with Greathed's Column, in action at Boluudshuhur, horse
shot (wounded), and present in the actions of AUj-ghur and Agra (mentioned in despatch); also present at the
relief of Lucknow (Brevet of Lt.Colonel, CB., Medal with two Clasps).
» Major Browne served during the second phase of the Ashanti war in 1874 and was present at the capture of
Cooma'ssie (Medal with Clasp).
5 Captain Knox served throughout the Nile E.xpodition in 1884-85 with the Light Camel Regiment, and took
part in the operations of the Desert Column (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
* Captain Marling served with the 3rd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Boer war in 1881, and was present in the
engagements at Lang's Nek and the Ingogo River. Served with the 3rd Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps in
the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta, in the action at Kassasin (gth
September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served throughout the
Soudan Expedition in 1884 with the Mounted Infantry, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai
(mentioned in despatches, Victoria Cross, two Clasps): was awarded the iT(C "for his conspicuous bravery at
the battle of Temai, on 13th March, 1884, in risking his life to save that of Private Morley, Royal Sussex Regiment,
who having been shot, was lifted and placed in front of Lieutenant Marling on his horse. He fell off almost
imm'ediatelj', when Lieutenant Marling dismounted, and gave up his horse for the purpose of carrying off Private
Morley, the enemy pressing close on to them until they succeeded in carrying him about 80 yards to a place of
comparative safet3'." Served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the Mounted Infantry, and was present at
the action of Abu Klea (two clasps).
7 Captain Maxwell Sherston served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the Mounted Infantry, and was
present at the engagements at Abu Klea and Abu Kru and in the reconnaissance to Metammeh (Medal with two
Clasps, and Khedive's Star). Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87 ^3 Aide de Camp to Sir Frederick
Roberta (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
