the strong claims it possesses to the confidence and support of all classes desirous of effect,

progressive course, affording all the benefits which, consistently with security to Assurers
and Assured, can possibly be given.

The last Annual Reduction of Premium amounted to 45 per cent.; so that a person

INDIAN BRANCH.
The Universal was the first Assurance Society tliat secured to residents in India fixed
rates and the advantages enjoyed by those in Great Britain.
Separate tables for the Civil and Military Services were originally framed with the
utmost care from the records of the India House, and valuable statistical returns accessible
to this Society alone. To test tlieir adaptation to the present time, and to ascertain whether
any reduction could safely be made, they have recently undergone a minute and laborious
investigation by two eminent London actuaries, whose report has established their sound¬
ness and accuracy.
The attention of persons proceeding to India, and of residents there, is requested to a
peculiar and most important advantage offered by this Society, viz.—that on the return of
the Assured to Europe the premiums are reduced to the English scale corresponding
with the age when the Assurance was effected, WITHOUT REFERENCE TO THE
STATE OF HEALTH ON RETURN.
Tables of Rates and all further information will be furnished at the OfKce in London,
and by the Agents in India:—
Messrs. BRADDON and Co., Calcutta.
Messrs. BAINBRIDGE, BYARD, GAIR, and Co., Madras.
Messrs. LECKIE and Co., Bombay.
MICHAEL ELIJAH IMPEY, Secretary.
