1 Lt.General Monlgomeiie served in the Mahralta campaig-s. Including the affair with Pindarees in Dec. 181C, battle of
and siege of Nagpore, and as Ilrigade llajor of Artillery at siege and storm of the fortress of Chandah. Throughout the
Burmese war of lH2^-26 as Brigade Mnjor of Artillery, including the capture of Kangoon, attack oi St.ickades on 28th May,
attack of Kemundine, repulse of an attack on the Line- of Rangoon m I'st July, defence of the Dragon Pagoda lines from
1st to .'ith Dec., commanded detachment of Ariillery with a column of attack on the enemy's intrenched po.siiion heforo
Kangoon on .5th Dec, and with the force which stormed the entrenched position at Kokayre on IfHli Dfc. 1824, prest-nt at
the siege and capture of Donabevv and capture of Prome, commanded JIadras Artillery in the attack and st<)rm of various
intrenched positions before Prome between 1st and .'Jth Dec. 182.5, commanded a battery at the attuck and storm of Melloon,
commanded a detachment of Artillery in an affair at Paghammew on 9th Feb. 182t> which terminated the war (four times
mentioned in dispatches). Co.nmanded the A^-tillery throughout the China Expedition of l8iO-4-.*, including the first cap¬
ture of Chusari, operations in the Canton river in 1844, r^'pulse of the ii'ght attack on Ningpoo, capture oi Tsekee, Segosin,
Chapoo, Woosung, and Shanghae (commanded a column of attack), assault and capture of Chinkiangfoo, and demonstra¬
tion before Nankin (six times mentioned in dispatches, Medal). Has the Indian War Medal with two Clasps for Nagpore
and Ava, and was nominated a CB. on Her Majesty's coronation in 1838. '
