1 Sir WilUam Wj'Uio commanded a Field Detachment in the Deckan and Conkan in 1822, and in Guzerat in 1823.
Present at the action on the Heights of Jerun in Cutch under Colonel D. Campbell in 1825, and thanked in general
orders. Served with the Field Force in Cutch under Colonel Mark Napier in 1825-26. Was Brigade Major with the
Bombay Column of the Army of the Indus imder Lord Kcane in 1838-39, and present at the storm and capture of
Ghuznee (Medal) and occupation of Cabul, and was Assistant Adjutant General to the J'orce under Sir Thomas
Willshire, and accompanied the stoi-ming Column at the storm and capture of Khelat (Brevet of Major). Served
as Assistant Adjutant General in Scinde and Beloochistan under Sir Richard England in 1841-42, and was present
at both attacks on the Heights of Hykulzye, the forcing of the Kojuck Pass to and from Candahar, and other opera¬
tions. Served as Assistant Adjutant General to the Force in Scinde and Beloochistan under Sir Charles Napier,
and was severely and dangerously wounded at the battle of Meeanee (Medal, Brevet of Lt.(Colonel, and CB.). Com¬
manded the Troops on the sea-coast in the Southern Conkan, co-operating with the Field Force under General
Delamotte, during the rebellion in the Southern Mahratta country in 1844-45. Has been repeatedly thanked in
despatches.
' Captain Mackintosh sensed in the Central India campaign under Sir Hugh Rose, including the capture of the
entrenchments of Futiabad, siege storm and capture of the Fort of Chandairee, and of the Fort and town of Jhansi,
storm of Loharie, actions of Koonch, Muttra, and Galowlie, and capture of Calpee. Penetrated alone on the 4th of
April into the town of Jhansi, then in possession of the rebels, and obtained possession of a document in connection
with the mutineers at Gwalior, discovered by a soldier on the body of a Sepoy shot the previous night—personally
thanked by the General Commanding. Commanded 300 men, being the Infantry of the Rear Guard 2nd Brigade
Central India Field Force, on i6th May, when, in conjunction with the Artillerj' and Cavalry, they repulsed the suc¬
cessive attacks of the rebel army, and held it in check at Etora until the baggage of the Brigade was safely escorted
into camp—mentioned in despatches (Medal with Clasp).
» Major Welsh served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of i852-53(Medal with Clasp for Pegu), including
the bombardment of Rangoon and subsequent operations on the 12th, 13th, and 14th April, and capture of the great
Dagon Pagoda (with the storming party); bombardment and capture of Prome (specially thanked by the Governor
General of India in Council), night-attacks of the enemy on the Camp on the Heights of Promc, and expedition into
Ponngdey district in Feb. and March 1853.
• Captains Forbes and Beville served with the expedition to Shugra in Arabia in 1866.
1" Captain Harden served with the loist Fusihers in the Indian N.W. Frontier war of 1863, and was present at
the attack and capture of the Crag Piquet, the Conical Hill, and Umbeyla (Medal with Clasp).
" Lieut. Mordauut served in Arabia in 1865-66, and was present at the action of Bir Said and subsequent opera¬
tions, including the expedition to Shugra.
12 Lieut. Mackiunon served in the Abyssinian campaign in i868 as a Sub-Assistant Commissary General (Medal).
" Lieut. Campbell served in Arabia in 1865-66, and was present at the action of Bir Said and subsequent opera¬
tions in the interior.
