Lt.Gencral Towushend served with the
58 I April 60 41st Regiment in the American war, and wti:.*
60 P 2 Dec. 62 present at the taking of Fort Niagara, Blackrock
and Buflalo, battle of Lundy's Lane, and assault
on Fort Erie 14th August 1814, where he was
severely wounded through the left shoulder. He
65iretumed to Europe with the 41st Regiment in
65[JuIy 1813 and disembarked at Ostend, from
66 whence he marched with the Army to Paris, and
66 j remained with it until reduced to half-pay in Oc-
67 tober of the same year. During the rebellion in
Canada in 1837 and 1S3S he was intrusted with
various important commands both in the Lower
and Upper Provinces, especially on the frontieri^
of Amherstberg and Niagara, where he held the
local rank of Colonel, and was promoted to the
Brevet of Lt.Colonel for his services in those lo¬
calities.

3 April 69 2 Major Todd served with the 1st Battalion
Royals throughout the Eastern campaign ot
1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inker-
man siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with threp
Clasps, and Knight of the Legion of Honor).
3 Captain Home seized as Adjutant of the 4Sth
Regiment in the Crimea from 27th April 1855, in¬
cluding the siege and fall of Sebastopol—wounded
P28May 7o!i8th Aug. (Modal with Clasp, 5th Class of the
P 3 Sept. 7otMedjidie, and Turkish Medal). Corporal Gourley
and Private Downey, 48th Regiment, received the French War
Medal for assisting Captain Home in the attempt to bring into
the Trenches a wounded soldier, who was lying in the en¬
closures in front of the left attack before Sebastopol, on the
19th June 1853.
3 Ensign Murray served with the 31st Light Infantry
throughout the Burmese war of 1852-53 ; was on board the
steam-frigate Ferooz during the naval action with and destruc¬
tion of the enemy's stockades on the Rangoon river, and served
during the succeding three days' operations in the vicinity,
and at the storm and capture of Rangoon, also at the repnlse
of the night attack on Promo (Medal with Clasp for Pegu).
