4 Lt-Colonel \\. Hamilton joined Sir Hope Grant's column advancing to the relief of Lucknow in Nov. 1U57;
commanded a Battalion of Detachments in the skirmish before and in the attack and capture of Bunterah, as
also during the operations resulting in the relief of the Garrison of Lucknow; commanded 79th Highlanders
during the occupation and defence for three months of Alumbagh, and in the closing o)>erations against Luck¬
now ; was present at the affair of Gailee ; served lin the llohilcuiid campaign in Apr. 1858, and commanded the
78th at the capture of Bareiily \CB., Medal and Clasp).
a Lt.Colonel M'Intyre served in the Persian campaign of 1857; commanded the 78th Highlanders on the
expedition to Borazjoon, in the night attack and in the battle of Kooshab, and present at the bombardment of
Mohumrah (mentioned in despatches. Medal and Clasp/. Accompanied Havelock's force in Sept. for the relief
of Lucknow, and was in the actions during that advance; on the morning that the force entered the City, was
thrown into the Alumbagh with 250 men for its defence from 25th Sept. to 7th Oct., was surrounded by the
enemy and all communication cut off, was then reinforced from Cawnpore by 23ft men and two guns, and again
on 25rh Oct. by 50Umen and four guns; held the position, still surrounded by the enemy, for 52 days until re¬
lieved by the approach of the ('ommander in Chief's force (horse shot on 25th Sept., mentioned in despatches).
Proceeded with the Commander in Chief's force for the relief of the garrison in the Residency, and com¬
manded the advance guard in the attacks on the Dilkoosha and La Martiniere (mentioned in despatches as
** conspicuous" in attack on La Martiniere). Was with Outram's force during the reoccupation for three
months of the Alumbagh, and present at the repulse of all the attacks made on that position. Present with
Brigadier Campbell's force in the third advance on Lucknow, and in the operations of that force until the final
capture of the city (Medal and Clasps and Cli.),
a Major MacAndrew served with the 40th Regt. throughout the operations in Candahar in Affghanistan in
1841 and 42, and has received the Medal inscribed " Candahar, Ghuznee, Cabool, 1842." Served with the 78th
Highlanders in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, bombardment of
Mohumrah, and expedition to Ahwaz 'Medal and Clasp),

battle of Kooshab, and bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Clasp). Served in Bengal in the several actions
leading to and ending in the relief of the Residency at Lucknow (wounded) and commanded the Regt. during
the subsequent defence, also commanded two sorties (wounded), and was mentioned in Dispatches; served with
Outram's force at Alumbagh, including the repulse of numerous attacks, also in the operations ending in the
final capture of Lucknow (Brevet Major); the Rohilcund campaign in 1858 and capture of Bareiily (Medal
and Clasp and Bt. of Lt.Colonel).

bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's column from its first taking
the field in 1857, including the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddec, Cawnpore, Onao, Buseerut
Gunge (1st and 2nd), Boorbeakechowkee, and Bithoor (severely woundcdi; with Grant's column in the attack
on Buntcrah (severely wounded and horse killed); with Outram's force at Alumbagh, including the repulse of
the numerous attacks, and in the operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow; the Rohilcund campaign
in 1853 and capture of Bareilly {Medal and Clasp and Brevet of Major).
11 Lt.Col. Bouverie served in the Persian war in 185/ as a Brigade Major, including the bombardment of Mo-
humrah (Brevet Major, Medal and Clasp). St-rved with the 78ih Highlanders in Bengal with Haveloek's column
from its first taking the field in 1857. including the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Niiddee, Cawnpore,
Onao, Buscerutgungc (1st and 2nd), Boorbeakechowkce, and Bithoor; as Brigade Major in the several actions
leading to and ending in the relief of Lucknow and subsequent defence; with Outram's force at Alumbagh,
includmg the repulse of the numerous attacks, and in the operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow
(Brevet of Lt.Coloncl, Medal and Clasp).
12 Captain Archer served in the Persian war in 1857, including the bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and
Clasp). Served in Benfjal in lf[57. at Bithoor with Havelock's column, skirmish before Bunterah, operations re¬
sulting in the second relief of Lucknow, with Outram's force at Alumbagh including the repulse of ihe numerous
attacks, and operations ending in the final capture of Lueknow ; the liohilcund campaign in 1858 and capture
of Bareilly (Medal and Clasp).
13 Captain Belmore St. George served with the 3rd Light Dragoons throughout the Punjaub campaign of
1848-49 (Medal).
20 Lieut. Barker served in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, bom¬
bardment of Mohumrah, and expedition to Ahwaz (Medal and Clasp). Served in Bengal with Haveloek's
column from its first taking the field in 1857, including the actions of Futtehporc, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee,
Cawnpore, Onao, Buseerutgungo (1st and 2nd), Boorbeakechowkee, and the several actions leading to and ending
in the relief of the Residency of Lucknow and subsequent defence, including several sorties (wounded); with
Outram's force at Alumbagh including the repulse of the numerous attacks, and in the operations ending in the
final capture of Lueknow, where he oificiated as D. A. Q. M. Gen. 1st Division, and was mentioned in Dis¬
patches ; the Hohilcund campaign in 18.58 and capture of Bareilly (Medal and Clasp).
21 Lieut. Walker served in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, and
bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Claspi. Served in Bengal with Havelock's column from July 1857,
including tlie actions of (^awnnore, Onao, Buseerutgunge(lst and 2nd), and Bithoor, the several actions leading
to and ending in the relief of the Residency at Lucknow and subsequent defence; with Outram's force at
Alumbagh including the repulse of the numerous attacks and operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow;
the Rohilcund campaign in 1858 and capture of Bareilly (Medal and Clasp).
22 Lieut. Walsh served in the Persian war in 1857. including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, and
bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's column in the several
actions leading to the relief of Lucknow; present in the defence of Alumbagh for six weeks ; operations
resulting in the second relief of Lucknow ; with Outram's force at Alumbagh including repulse of numerous
attacks, and operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow; the Rohilcund campaign and capture of
Bareilly—wounded (Medal and Clasp).
23 Lieut. Browne served under Gen. Windham when Cawnpore was attacked by the Gwalior Mutineers in
Nov. 1357; subsequently with Outram's force at Alumbagh, including the repulse of the numerous attacks,
and operations ending in the final capture of Lucknow; also the campaign in Rohilcund and capture of
Bareilly (Medal and Clasp).
25 Captain Webster was present at the battle of Platsburg, and various skirmishes in 1814, Served in the
Persian war in 1857, including the bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Clasp). Also the Rohilcund
campaign in 1853 and capture of Bareilly (Medal).
26 Qr.Master Skrineand Ensign Hart served in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and
battle of Kooshab, and bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal and Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's
column from its first taking the field in 1H57, including the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee,
Cawnpore, Onao, Buseerutgunge (1st and 2nd), Bithoor, and the several actions leading to and ending in
