Indiiin campaign of 1857-58, including the advance on Lucknow and actions at Chanda, Umeerpore, and
Sultanpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, relief of Azimghur, capture of Jugdespore and operations in
its vicinity (Medal).
16 .Major Crowe served with the 78th Ilighlauilers in the Persian campaign in 1856 and was present in
the action of Koosliah atnl lionibardnient of Molmrnrah. Served in India w ith llavelock's Colunai front its
first taking the field in 1857, including the aitions of Futtelipore, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Oonao, Buseer-
ntgunge, JJoorbeakecliowkee (Victoria Cross for distinguished and gallant conduct), Mimgarwar, and Altinihagh,
relief of Lucknow («ounded), defence of Alumliagli under Outram, siege and capture of Lucknovv, relief of
Azinigliur, and operations near Jugdespore (Medal).
17 Captain Hnrt served with the Ituyals throughout the Kastern campaign of 1854-55, including the
battles of Alma and Inkernuin, siege and fall of ^ebastO])ol, and with volunteer sharpshooters from 17th
Oet to 31st Ditf. 1854 (Mednl and Clasps, and Knight of the Leaion of Honnr).
18 Captain Bluett servetl with the luth Regt. in the Punjiiub campaign, including the latter part
of the siege operalions before Mooltan, and surrender of the fortress, and battle of Goojerat (Medal
and Clasps). Sei-ved at the relief of Azimghur in April 1858, capture of jugdespore and operations in its
vicinity (Medal).
19 Captain Wliaite sen-ed in the Pnnjnuh campaign in 1816, including the latter part of the siege opera¬
tions heloie Mooltan, surrender of tliat lortress, and battle of Goojerat (Medal and Clasps).
20 Captain Bartholomew commanded a mounted detachment of the lOtli Foot during the operations against
the reluls iti the Slinhabad district, from 9th Oct. 1858 to 4th Jan. 1859, and \\a3 several times engaged
(mentioned in despatches, Medal).
21 Captain Bjron served in th'' 34ih Regt. at the Siege of Sebaslopol in 1854, and was wounded and
taken prisoner in a Sortie by ihe Ru>sians on the night of the 20th December (Medal and Clasp). Served
in the Ind an campaign in 1857-58. including actions at Cawnpore under Windham, siege and capture of
Luckuow, and relef of Azimghur (Mi dal and Clasp).
21t Captain Hales served with the 18th Royal Irish in the Burmese campaign of 1852-53 (Medal). Also
at ihe siege of Sehasiopol from SO Dec. 1854 (Medal and Clasp).
22 Captain Henderson served in ilie Ind'an cainpaigu of 1857--' 8, and in June 18.57 was attached to an Irre¬
gular Levy of 14*10 men engaged in tlie district tor ihe protecticm of Agra being also vested with ilie powers
of Joint M:igistiHte in the disirict of Agra. Allyghur. and .Mu'tra; present at the action of Agra on otli July
and was altei-wards Assistant Field Kngtneer in the Fnrt; in October was appointed Orderly Officer to Col.
Greaihed pi-esent at the action of Dtiklioosha and relief of Lueknow by Lord Clyde, the affair at Kanouge,
affair of tlie 2nd Dec. and action of the 6lh Dec at Cawnpore; served afterwards as Aide de Camp to General
Franks and present at the actiotia of Nusrutpore, Chanda, Unieeipore, Sultaiipore, and Dhowraha, siege and
capture of Lucknow (wounded by an explosion) including the storming of the Eraaumbara and Kaisabagh
(Medal).
23 Captain Sandvvith served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58 and was present with the party of tlie lOih
Regt. under Captain Dunbar (who was killed) at the attempt to relieve Arrah (wounded); advance to I.uck-
nott- and actions at Chanila, Unieerpore, and Sultanpore, siege and capture of Lueknnw, storming of the
Eniiinnihara and Kaisabagli, passage of the Tonse, relief of Aziniglmr, capture of Jugdespore and operations
in its vicinity (Medal).
23t Captain Bngle served with the 78th Highlanders during the Persian war in 1857, including the bomhard-
mcnt of Mohunirah (Medil). Served in Bengal with llave'oek's Column from its first laking the field in 1857,
including the aclions of Futtehpore, Aouiig, Pandoo >'uildee, Cawnpore, and Ootiao, where he was severely
wotuidecl, and nientioned in Dispatches for'■ conspicuous gallantry "(Victoria Cross). Present at Cawnpore
under Windhani when atiacked hy the Gwalior Muliiicers. Served as Adjutant to the Regt. in the lorce under
Ontram at Alninhagh, including th-' repulse of the numerous attacks, and also in tlie operations ending in
the final rapture of Lucknow. In Roliilcund in 1858 under Lord Clyde and at the action of Bareilly (Medal
and Clasp).
24 Lieut Si. John served in Ihe Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the advance to Lucknow and
actions at Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore, and liouraha, siege and capture of Lucknow, storming of
the Kniaumi'ara and Kaisabagh, rdief of Azimghur. vkiimish at Birheea, and action of Jugdespore, and
was se^el■eIy wounded at the action if Chiitomati (Medal).
25 Captain Graliani served in (he Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the capture of the fort of Atrow-
lera, advance tn Luckiiow and aclions at Chanda, Unieerpore, Sultanpore, and Douraha, siege and capture of
Lucknow and storming of tlie Emaunihara and Kaisaha^h (Medal).
26 Lieut. Bcale served with the 10th Regt. in the Indian campaign of 1857-."8, and was present at the
Mutiny at Dinapore, defeat of ilie rebels by Eyre's force, action of Delour, and capture of Jugdespore, on
12th Aug. 1857, advance to Lucknow and acl'inns at Chanda, Umeerpore, and Sultanpore, attack on the fort of
Douraha, siege and capture of Lucknow and led the storming party of the 10th Regt. at the storming of the
Einauinbara and Kaisabagh (tw-iee nientioned in di'spatclies); as Adjutant of the Regt. he was present at the
passage of the Tonse- relief of Azimghur, capture of Jugdespore, action of Cliitourah, ami operations in its
viciniiy; and was Staff Officer to Colonel Longdcn commanding in I\orth Beliar, during Sir J. Douglas'final
operations in the winter of 1858-59 (Medal and Clasp).
27 Lieut. Battye served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58 and was present at the Mutiny at Dinapore and
attempt to relieve Arrah; capture of Atrowleea, advai.ce to Lucknow and actinrs at Clianda, Umecrjiore,
Sultanpore, and Douraha, siege and capture of Lueknow and storming of the Eraaumbara and Kaisabagh (Medal)
28 Lieut. Ball served in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the advance to Lucknow and actions at
