1 Sir James Sleigh served in Flanders in 1705; in the actions in North Holland and the Heldcr, lOtli and Ifltii Bept.,
and and and 6th Oct. 1799. In the Peninsula in 1811 and 12. Commanded the lltli Dragoons at Waterloo, towards the
close of which the command of the 4th Brigade devolved on him. In 18I9he accompanied hisRegiinent to India, and
commanded the Cavalry division at the siege of Bhnrtpore in 18'J5 & 6 (Medal). Tie has received the War Medal with
one Clasp for Salamanca, aiid is a KnigJit of Maximilian Josejili of Bavaria.
2 Colonel Little served with the '.ith Lancers in the Sutlej campaign in 1816, including the battle of Sobraon (Medal).
Served as Brigadier in command fif the Cavalry at the relief of Lucknow, and commanded the Post at Diikoosha from
liith to i!4th Nov. lS.i7, for which he received the thanks ol the Commander in Chief and Governor General in Council,
and CB. Commanded the Cavalry and three troops Hoise Artillery at the battle of Cawnpore and pursuit of the Gwalior
Mutineers on the tith Dec, actions at Seraigl.at and Khudaigunge. Commanded the 1st Brigade ot Cavalry at the siege of
Lucknow, until severely wounded by a musket ball through the left elbow (twice mentioned in despatches, Medal and
Clasps).
4 Lt. Colonel Steele served in the 98th Regt. with the expedition to the North of China in 1342 (Medal), and was present
at the attick and capture of Chin Kiang Foo, and at the landing before Nankin. Commanded a Squadron of the 9th Lancers
at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore on (ith Dec. 1857, and action at Seraighat; commanded two
Squadrons in action at Shumshurbatl (severely wounded) j present during the siege of Lucknow from 2nd to 19th March,
and in the Trans-Gogra affair at Kumbdakoti (mentioned in ftes|)atches. Brevet Lt.Colonel, Medal and Clasps).
6 Major Johnson served in suppression of the Indian Mutiny in 1857-.'>8, and commanded a Squadron of the 9th Lancers
at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec, and action at Seraighat; commanded the Cavalry,
two Squadrons of the 9th Lancers and Hodson's Horse, at the action of Shumshabad ; served on Sir Hope Grant's Staff at
the siege and capture of Lucknow and action at Koorsee ; commanded a Squadron throughout the summer campaign la
Oude and Rchilcund, including actions at Rhodamow and Allygunge, capture of Bareilly, actien at Shahjehanpoje and
pursuit to Mahomdee (twice mentioned in despatches. Brevet ot Blajor, Medal and Clasp).
7 Captain Fawcctt served the Eastern campaign of 18.'34-.05 with the .'>Oth Regt., including the battles of Alma and
Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps). Served with the Oth Lancers the Indian campaign of 1857-59,
commanded a Squadron at the battle of Budlekeserai and throughout the siege and capture of Delhi (horse shot in repelling
a sortie on 19th June;; also with Greathed's column in the action at Bolundshur (horse shot) and AUyghur.aud was senior
ollicer ot the Regt. in camp at Agra when the enemy attacked, and commanded during the early part of the engagement, and
in the action at Meraigunge; present at the relief of Lncknow by lord Clyde, battle of Cavvni)Oie on 6th Dec, and actions
at Seraighat and Khudagunge, and capture of Meeangunge ; commanded a Squadron at the siege of Lucknow from 2nd to
19th March, and throughout the summer campaign in Oude and Rohilcund, including actions at Rhodamow and Allygunge,
capture of Bareilly, action at Shahjehanpore and pursuit to Mahoradee, and afl'air at Kumdakoli (Medal and Clasps).
