20 Sir George Couper was Assistant-engineer at Copenhagen; Captain in the 92nd with Sir
John Moore's army in Sweden and Portugal; Aide de Camp to Lord Dalhousie in Waleheren-
1st Aide de Camp to Sir H. Olinlon in the Teniusula in 1811 and 12, to Lord Dalhousie from
1812 to the end of the war, and was present in all the actions in which they commandtd
Divisions during those periods, lie was Assistant Quarter Master General with the army in
the Gulf of Mexico in 18U-15. Sir George has received the War Medal with four Clasps for
Badajoz, Salamanca, Vittoria, ijnd Pyrenees.
21 Sir William Cox served at the re-takin» of Grenada in 1796 j in Egypt in 1801; employed
on a particular service in Spain in 1808-9, and was present in the action at Lugo, and battle of
Corunna. Commanded the fortress of Almeida, from April 1809 to the 27th August 1810,
when, by the unfortunate explosion of its magazines, he was obliged to surrender it to the army
under Marshal Massena. He has the War Medal witL one Clasp for Corunna ; and is a Knight
of the Tower and S»ord of Portugal.
22 Colonel Danicll accompanied the 2nd Battalion Coldstrcam Guards to North America in
1838 on the occasion of the insurrection in Canada, and returned from thence in 1842. Joined
the Lst Battalion in the Crimea and served with it during tlie siege in 185o, and was in command
of the Battalion at the period of the attack on the llidan the 8tli Sept., and subsequent fall of
Sebat^topol,on which night he was in Orders as General of the Trenches (Medal and Clasp, 4th
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
23 Colonel d'Arc^' was present on the Staff during the operations of a field-force in the
Southern Mahratta Country in 1844-45, under Major-General IJe la Motte.
24 Colonel Henrj- Dawkins served in the Peninsula with the Guards, from Feb. 1810 to the
end of that war in 1814 : Major of Brigade from June 1810, including the battle of Fuentes
d'Onor, siege of Ciudad Rudrigo, battle of Salamanca, siege of Burgos, battles of Vittoria, Ni-
velle, and Nive ; passage of the Adour, blockade of Eayonne and repulse of the sortie, on which
last occasion he was severely wounded. Sarved also the campaign of 1815, including the battle
of Waterloo. He ha5 received the War Medal with five Clasps.
2o Colonel de Lacy served wi!h the 48th Rcgt. in the Peninsular war in the battle of Busaco,
lines at Torres Vedras, pursuit of Marshal Massena, action of Campo Mayor, first siege of Ba¬
dajoz, battles of Albuhera, Vittoria (wounde'l), Roncesvallcs, and the Pyrenees (28th July to
2nd Aug. 1813), besides minor actions and skirmishes. He served seven years in Jamaica and
the West Indies, and has received the War Medal with four Clasps).
26 Colonel Dennis served with the 1st Battalion COth Rifles during the second siege operations
at Slooltan, and commanded the battalion 27tli Dec. 1848, when the enemy's outposts and suburbs
of Mooltan were captured (wounded); was afterwards present at the battle of Goojerat, pursuit of
the fugitive Sikh army until its final surrender at Rawul Pindee, and expulsion of tlie Aflghan
force beyond the Khyber Pass (Medal and two Clasps). Served in the Oude Campaign in 1858
and commanded a nioveable column in pursuit of the rebels through the Khyreeghur district aud
jungles (mentioned in despatches, CB., and Medal).
27 Colonel Denny served in the Criinca in February 1855 (Medal and Clasp, and 5th Class
of the Medjidie).
28 Colonel Dobbin served with the 19th in the Travaneore war in 1809; at the capture of
the Kaudian territories in Ceylon in 1815. Also actively employed at the head of the Grena¬
dier Company throughout the Kandian campaign of 1818, and received the thanks of Sir Robert
Brownrigge on three occasions in General Orders, for a series of services against the insurgents.
29 Colonel Doherty commanded the 13th Lt. Drs. in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, in¬
cluding the affairs of liulgauak and M'Kenzie's Farm, battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman,
and Tchernaya, and siege of Sebastopol ; also present with the Light Brigade at Eupatoria
(Medal and four Clasps, and 5th Class of the Mtdjidie).
30 Colonel WiUiam Druminond's services :—Peninsular campaigns from 1809 to 1812, in¬
cluding the battles of Busaco and Fuentcs d'Onor, the retreat to the lines of Torres Vedras,
and subsequent advance from thence. Campaign of 1811 in Holland, including the bombard¬
ment of Antwerp and storming of Bergen-op-Zoom. Campaign of 1815, including the battles
of Quatre Bras and Waterloo. Received the rank of Brevet Major for his conduct at Waterloo.
He has received the Silver War Medal with three Clasps.
31 Colonel Evelegh served with the 20th Regt. the Eastern campaign of 1854-55. and was
present at the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman, both attacks on the Redan, and through
tlie whole of the siege operations before Sebastopol without being absent from a single tour
of duty in the Trenches ; also at the capture of Kiuboum. Embarked for India with the 20th
Regiment, was made a Brigadier, and was present at the following actions and affairs,—
Chanda, Araeerpore, Sultanpore, siege of Lucknow. Also commanded an independent force
at Mohan, IIussenguDge, Meeangunjie, Poorwah, Murrowmow, capture of fort Simree, Berah,
Buxarghat, and the fort of Oomero. Was mentioned about fifteen times in despatches ; thanked
twice by the Governor General in Council; has the Crimean Medal with four Clasps, order of
CB., Legionof Honor, 4th C'ass of the Medjidie, Turkish Medal, and Indian Medal witli Clasp.
33 Colonel Farquliarson served with the G5th Regiment at the capture of the Isle of
France in 1810; at the capture of the fort of Now Nuggur in India, Feb. 1814; on the borders
of Scindia's country in 1814 and 15 against the Pindavecs ; in Kattywar on the Briaade Stati:' in
1815 ; at the capture of Jooriii, Bunder, Anjar, and Khuncoote in 1816, Dhingte aud Dwarka.
Action and capture of Poona, 17th March 1817 (Medal). At Asliteo, 2Ist Feb. 1818, tlie Mah¬
ratta General Gokla killed, and Satteria Reya captured. Storm and capture of Boojee Fort in
Cutch, March 1819. Capture of the forts o'f Rass-el-Kyma and Zama, 8th and 22nd Dec. 1819.
Served also in Arabia in 1812, and was present in the action of Beni-Boo-Ali, 2nd March.
34 Colonel Fordyce-Buchan served with the 74th Highlanders in the Kaffir war in 1851
