and Lti^e Erie in the winter of 1838.
128 Colunel Taylor served the Eastern campaign of 1854 55, including the battles of Alma
and Bilaklava, and aiege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, 5th Class of the Mprijidie, and
Turkish Medal). Commanded the 79lh Highlanders from Feb. to 16th Nov. 1858 in the
Indian campaign, including tlie siege and capture of Lucknow, and commanded a lirigade in
Gude from Nov. 1858 to Jan. 1859 (mentioned in despatches, CB., Brevet of Colonel, Medal
and Ciisp).
129 Colonel E. A. Somerset served with the Rifle Brigade in the Kaffir war of 1852-53
(Medal). Also the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma, Balaklava,
and Inkerman, and sieue of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and
5th Class of the Medjidie).
130 Cohmel Bunbury served with the expedition through the Kohat Pass in 1850, aa
Aide-de-Camp to Sir Charles Napier. Servfd als'j the Eas'ern campaii^n of 1854-55, inoluding
the battle of Inkerinan and siege of Sebastopoi (Medal and Clasps, CB., Knight of the Legion
of Honor, and 5rli Class of the Medji'iie).
131 Colonel Claremont has received the Medal and Clasps, the Brpvtts of Major and Lieut.-
Colonel, CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, and 4tli Class of the Mtdjidie, for his services
in the late war with Russia.
132 Colonel Armstioig served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 (during 1854 as a Major of
Brigade in the 2nd Division), and was present at the battles of Alma, Bidikhiva, and Inkerman
(hor-e killed), and siege of Sebastopol, sortie on 2(5th Oct. (Iiorse shot); commanded the left
column of the storminir pnrty at the capture of the Quarries—twice severely wounded, first by
a gr.ipe-sliot in the thi^h, and afterwards by the explosion of a Foutjass (Medal and Four Clasps,
Brevets of Major and Lt.CoIonel, Knii:ht of the Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the Medjidie,
ami Turkish Medal).
133 Colonel John Fraser served in tlic Peninsula with the 53rd from Aug. 1811 to the end
of that war in 1814, including the siege and capture of the fortified convents at Salamanca,
baltle of Salamanca, siege of the castle of Burgos, battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, the Nivelle,
and Toulouse. Severely wounded at Pampeluna on the 20th July 1813. He has received the
War Medal with five Clasps.
134 Colonel Wade served throughout the campaigns in Affghanistan from 1838 to 1842 in¬
clusive,—he was Adjutant of the 13th at the st<n-m and capture of Ghuznee (Medal), and Major
of Brigade at the assault and capture of the town and forts of Tootumdurrah, storm of Jhoolghur,
uight attack at Baboo Koosh Ghur, destruction of Khardcirrah, and assault of I'erwandurrah.
Present with the 13th at the storming of the Koord Cabool Pass (wounded), affair of Tizeen,
forcing the JugduUuck Pass, reduction of the fort of JIamoo Khail, heroic defence of Jellalabad
and sorties on the 14th Nov. and 1st Dec. 1841, 11th March, 24th March, and 1st April, 1842 ;
general action and defeat of .\kbar Khan before Jellalabad (Medal), storming the heights of
JugduUuck, general action of Tezeen, and recapture of Cabool (Medal). Has the Order of the
Dooranee Eoipire of tlie 3rd Class.
135 Colonel Hale served the Sutlej campaign of 1845-0 with the 3rd Light Dragoons and was
present at the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah, and Sobraon (Medal and Clasps).
136 Colonel Pearson served at the siege of Bhurtpore, and was a volunteer for the dis¬
mounted cavali-y storming party. He served also in the action at Maharajpore, 29th Dec. 1843
(Medal), and in the campaign on the Sutlej in 1846, including the battles of Buildiwal, Aliwal,
and Sobraon: at Aliwal he commanded the right wing of the 16th Lancers, and subsequently the
Regiment, as also at Scbraon.
137 Colonel Fyler served with the 16th Lancers duiing the campaign in AiFghanistan tmder
Lord Keane, including tlie siege and cai>ture of Gliuznee (Medal). Also at the battle of Maha¬
rajpore (Medal), 20 Dec. 1843 ; and in the campaign on tlie Sntlej in 1840 (Medal), including
the battles of Buddiwal and Aliwal, at which last he was severely wounded by a musket sliot
whiLit charging with the Squadron he commanded a large body of Infantry with three guns in
their front, and wluch he broke through and dispersed, being the last of the enemy's infantry
which stood their ground; for this service he receiv( d the Brevet rank of Major. Served in
the Punjaub campaign of 1848-9 with the 3rd Light Dragoons (Medal). Served in the Crimea
with tlie 12ih Lancers from 17th May 1855, and was present at the battle of tlie Tchernaya,
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp, 5th Class of the Mei'jidie, and Turkisli Medal).
138 Colonel Percival Brown served with the 41st in the Burmese war in 1824-2.J (Medal).
139 Colonel Mvlius served with the 2Cth throughout the China expedition (Medal), and was
present at the first captui'c of Cliusan, the operations before Canton from the 24th to the 31st
May 1841, at Woosung, Shanghae, Chin Kiang Foo, and Nanking.
140 Colonel Creagh served in the Aiiglo-Spanisli Legion, and was engaged on the heights
of Arlnban in Alava, on the 16th, 17th, and 18th January 1836, besides several other affairs. He
was also employed on a Particular service in Canada at the outbreak of the rebellion in 1837.
Has received a (iold Medal from the Sultan for bis services on the Danube.
141 Colonel Blacklin served with the 3rd Battalion Royals at Quatre Bras 10th June, the
retreat on the 17th, and carried the King's Colour after four officers had been killed from it
at Waterloo on the 18th (wounded), capture of Paris, and with the array of occupation in
France in 1815 and 1816. He was one of the only five officers out of 39 who marched with
his regiment to Paris, 34 liaving fallen, killed or wounded, in the buttles of Qtuiire Bras and
Waterloo. Embarked to join the 2nd battalion in the Kast liidies, and served with the army in
the Deccan the campaigns of 1817, 18, and 19, including the pursuit of the Nagporc Rajah,
