TO MEMBERS OF REGIMENTAL MESSES.
MEMBERS of Regimental Messes, Residents in India and the Colonie* are re-
spectfully solicited to inspect the articles supplied to them, purporting to be
the manufacture of CROSSE & BLACKWELL, as in consequence of the great
repute in which their various condiments and table-supplies are held, large quantities
of goods are prepared so similar to theirs in outward appearance, that the deception ii
not discovered until the p\irchaser has opened them.
It is therefore important to all who wish to guard against disappointment, to carefully
examine their purchases, as C. & B. do not guarantee any articles to be of their
manufacture, unless bearing tlieir name and address in full on the various bottles and
corks. The indents C. and B. execute for the principal storekeepers in India and the
British Colonies are most varied and extensive, comprising (among other preparation*
too numerous to he included in the limits of an advertisement) the following well-
known supplies: —
Pickles of various descriptions, the whole (with the exception of white Onions and
Mushrooms) prepared with pure White Wine Vinegar.
White Onions and Mushrooms prepared with pure Distilled Vinegar only. The
Mushrooms are preserved immediately they are gathered from the grounds, at C, 8c
B.'s factory at Lewes, Sussex.
The Royal Table Sauce, a warm rich sauce for cold meat and general purposes.
Essence of Anchovies, in the preparation of which none but the best Gorgona Fish
are used.
The Celebrated Soho Sauce, for game, venison, fish, &c.
Dinmore's Essence of Shrimps, one of the most delicious sauces ever introduced for
imparting a relish to all kinds of boiled and fried fish, and being milder than the Essence
of Anchovies, has met with a decided preference; the true flavour of the Shrimp is
fully retained, as it is manufactured on the sea coast, where C. & B. have a factory
for this express purpose.
Sir Robert Peel's Sauce for general purposes ; each bottle is labelled with a fac-siinile
of the late Right Hon. Baronet's letter of approval.
Soyer's New Sauces, one mild for Ladies, and one warm for Gentlemen; these sauces
are manufactured under Monsieur Soyer's own direclion.
Soyer's justly celebrated Relish, in universal use throughout the world.
Fruits in bottles for tarts, and Crystallised Fruits for dessert.
Jams and Jellies of the first quality, prepared with the strictest attention to the preser¬
vation of the fine aroma of the fruit.
Strasbourg Potted Meats, Anchovy and Bloater Paste, and Pale h Diable, for Breakfast,
Luncheon, &c.
Fine Bologna Sausages, hermetically sealed in tins.
Real York Hams, prime Wiltshire Bacon, and dried Ox Tongues, hermetically sealed.
Real York Hams and Ox Tongues preserved in jelly.
Berkley and Cheddar Cheese, preserved by a new process in tins, hermetically scaled.
Prepared Parmesan Cheese, in bottles, for Macaroni, &c.
Preserved Salmon, Oysters, Lobsters for Sauce, Herrings a la Sardines, Yarmouth
Bloaters, Sardines in Oil, Oysters preserved in Jelly.
All the various kinds of Preserved Meats, Soups,'Game, Vegetables, &c., fit for imme¬
diate use.
Dried Herbs in bottles. Essences of Herbs and Spices of all kinds, for purposes of
flavouring.
Syrups for Ices, comprising Pine Apple, Lemon, Orange, Raspberry, Lime, Currant,
Strawberry, and Cherry; any of these diluted with water make a cool and delightful
beverage.
Arrowroot, Macaroni, Vermicelli, Durham Mustard, Table Vinegar, Olives, Caperi,
&c. &c
