SAMUEL EYRE,
ADVERTISEMENT CONTRACTOR,
32, BOUVERIE STREET, FLEET STREET, LONDON,
Respectfully calls the attention of PUBLIC COMPANIES, and ADVERTISERS IN
GENERAL, to the advantages which may be derived from entrusting their favours to his
care and judgmi nt.
His extensive correspondence with the press in every part of the globe enables hiui tj
impart such iuforjiialion as will tend to ctmcTit a connection which may prove mutually
valujble.
EYRE'S NEWSPAPER GUIDE,
CONTAINING ALL THE
PRINCIPAL PAPERS PUBLISHED IN THE WORLD
(Editions of which coriectid to the latest moment are continually published), may be had
on application.
S. Eyre, in introducing a New Edition of his Newspaper Guide to public attention, has
the satisfaction of stating that it contains all the important alteratiur.s nicesaary for his
patrons, up to the latest period prior to going to press.
Peculiar arrangements with a majority of the influential journals of England, Ireland,
Scotland, and the Coluuies enable hint to offer such special inducements to his patrons as
cannot fail to he ol real nssiitunce to them, and at the same time a sufficient guarantee
that their outby of money will ensure adequate remuneration.
In the exercise of a discretion, lie is convinced will prove of benefit to his patrons
Mr. Eyre has carefully weeded his present List of Newspapers, and retained the names
of those only he deems valuable to his advertising fiiends. Circulation is not always
a proper criterion by which to estimate the value of a journal, but the Advertiser, or
his Agent, must carefully ascertain the social position of a Newspaper, and the class
by which it is read. One journal with a circulation of five hundred copies weekly may be
a superior medium of advertising, to another double the number. Thus, looking merely at
the Govi ruinent Stamp returns, or the remarkably confusing returns many proprietors of
newspapers have since issued on their oxen authority, an advertiser might squander much
money to no purpose. These reasons have induced S. Eyre to make, what he hopes will
be found, a judicious selection.
Many nselul hints will be found amongst the numerous advertisements of Provincial
Journals, inserted in this work, as to locality, plass of reijders, circulation, politics, &e. &c.
For further information Mr. Eyre would solicit intending advertisers to seek advice
and instruction at his office.
