Lucknow, with attack on and occupation of the Iron Bridge from nth to 14th March 1858 (Brevet of Lt.Colonel,
Medal with two Clasps).
'^ Colonel J. H. Buller served with the 57th Regiment in the Eastern campaign of 1834, and was very severely
wounded in the trenches before Sebastopol, and again whilst being carried back to the camp (Medal w-ith Clasp,
and Turkish Medal).
" Colonel C. K. Biishe commanded the troops during the operations before and bombardment of Canton by the
Royal Navy under Sir Michael Seymour during the latter part of 1856 and beginning of 1857; was present at the
assault and capture of the city in Dec. 1857 (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp) and of Namtow on inh Aug. 1858;
was employed a portion of the time as a Brigade Ma.ior,
''" Colonel Carmichael served with the 32nd Regt. at the first and second siege operations before Mooltan, and was
at the action of Soorjkoond; led the Right Column of attack at the storm and capture of the city of Mooltan (wounded)
—mentioned in General Fred. Markham's despatch ; and was present at the surrender of the fortress, as also at tho
surrender of the Fort and garrison of Cheniote, and at the battle of Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). Served
with the 32nd Regiment against the Hill Tribes on the Peshawur fr.nntior in 1851-52 (Medal with Clasp). Served
throughout the Oude campaign in 1858. Commanded the 32nd Light Inlantry at the successful attack on the en¬
trenched position at Dehaign, capture of the Fort of Tji-hool, action of Daodpore,—thanked bv Sir Alfred Horsford
'' for the able manner in which he commanded the Infantry;" affair at Jugdespore, surrender of the Forts of Amethee
and Shunkerpore. On the ist Dec. 1858 was appointed by Lord Clyde to the command of a Movable Column, which,
acting in conjunction with his Lordship's force, was sent in pursuit of the rebel chief Beni Maddoo, to drive him and
his troops across the River Gogra—this object the Column successfully accomplished; mentioned in Lord Clyde's
despatch as " distinguished for tho decision and celerity of his movements " (Medal and CB.).
21 Colonel Hon. Aug. M. Cathcart accompanied the 93rd Highlanders to Turkej-, and on the embarkation for the
Crimea he was appointed Extra Aide de Camp to his uncle Sir George Cathcart,'with whom he was present at the
battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman (]iromoted Brevet Major), where Sir George was killed; rejoined the
93rd, but having been appointed a Deputy Assistant Adjutant General, he was attached to the Light Division, and
was present in all the o])erations in which it was engaged, including both attacks on the Redan and fall of Sebastopol
—mentioned in despatches (Medal with four Clasps, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and sth
Class of the Medjidiel.
"2 Colonel S. A. Cleeve served as Adjutant of the 51st Lightlnfantrythroughout the Burmese war of 1852-53;
onboard the E.I.C. steam-frigate ftrooz during the naval action and destruction of the enemy's stockades on the
Rangoon River; served during the succeeding three days' operations in the vicinity (including the storming of tho
White House Redoubt), storm and capture of Rangoon, and repulse of the night attack on Prome (Medal with Clasp
for Pegu).

*' Colonel J. H. Cooper served the Eastern campaiga of 1854-55 with the 7th Fusiliers, including the sortie oJ
26th Oct., battle of Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol; appointed Aide de Camp to Colonel Yea, ami also present
at the attack on the Quarries on 7th June (wounded 8th June), and assault of the Redan 011 iStli June (Medal with
two Clasps, 5th Classof the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
2^ Colonel Cure served with the 55th Regt. in the Crimea from 5th June 1855, including the siege and fall of
Sebastopol; commanded the party of the 55th at the attack on the Quarries, and commanded the Regiment from the
middle of June to the Sth September, including the attacks of the Redan on the i8th June and Sth Sept.—severely
wounded (Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Colonol, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
2' Colonel G. A. Curzon served as Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion of the Rifle Brigade in tho Inlian campaigns
of 1857-58, including the actions at Cawnp jre, siege and capture of Lucknow; subsequently with Ross' Camel
Corps and present at the battle of Golowlee and capture of Calpee (Medal with two Clasps).
2* Colonel G. S. Davies served in tho Crimea with the loth Hussars from 30th June 1855, including the battle of
Tchornaya and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the Carabineers the
Indian campaigns of 1857-59, ind was present at the outbreak of the Sepoy mutiny at Mecrut on the loth May 1857,
the actions of the Hindun, 30th and 31st May, battle of Budleekeserai, siege and fall of Delhi, and subsequent
operations under Brigadier Showers ; also tho affair of Kerkrowlie, taking of Bareilly, aflrair.5 of Majidia, Churdall,
and Bankee, and pursuit to the River Rajitoe (Medal with Clasp).
''^ Colonel Deedes served with the ist Battalion 60th Rifles the campaign of 1857-58 against the mutineers in
India, including the actions on the Hinduu, battle of Budlee ke Serai, and taking the Heights before Delhi, the
subsequent siege operations (wounded on 12th June), assault and capture of the city, with the final attack on and
occupation of the palace. Served as Aide de Camp to Brigadier General Jones during the campai gii in Rohilcund,
including the actions of Bugawalla and Nuaeua, relief of Moradabad, action on the Dojura, assault and capture of
Bareilly, attack and bombardment of Shah.ehanpore, defeat of the rebels and relief of the garrison, capture of the
Fort of Bunnai, pursuit of the enemy to the left bank of the Goomtee, destruction of the Fort of Mahomdee.
Served as extra Aide de Camp to Sir A. Wilson at the siege and capture of Lucknow; and as Orderly Officer to
Brigadier Barker in the operations in Oude from 3rd Deo. 1858 to ist Feb. 1859 (Medal with two Clasps, and
Brevet of Major).

s" Lord Digby served in the expedition to the Soudan in 1885 with the ist Battalion of the Coldstream Guards,
and was present in the engagement at Hasheen, at that near Tofrek on the 24th March, and at the destruction of
Temai (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
*' Colonel Donovan served against the Fitcani tribe in 1828 under Colonel Somerset. Commanded an advanced
post in the neutral territory. Cape of Good Hope, in 1832 and 1833. Served against the insurgent Boers in 1845. Was
actively employed throughout the whole of the Kaffir war of 1S46 and 47 (Medal), and commanded the Advanced
Guard in forcing the passage of the Fish river Jungle from Fort Peddio to Trompeter's Drift in May 1846, when
the Troops were engaged with the whole ofPato's tribe for upwards of three hours; previous to the action on the
Gwanga he led as a volunteer a small party into the jungle, where he had a personal rencontre with four ai-med
Kaffirs (the chief Zeto and one of his capta"ins being of the party), two of whom he slew single-handed. For the
above services ho received the Brevet I'ank of Major. Commanded the Troops in the Sovereignty during the Kaffir
war of 1851-53 ; crossed the Orange River in Feb. 1851 (effecting the passage with guns, wagons, Jtc, in a temporary
boat constructed on the occasion) to assist in the protection of the Albert district, and on the sSth March following,
with one Troop Cape M. lUHcs, one six-pounder, and a small Burgher Force, defeated a largo body of Tambookies
and Basutos, under the chiefs Moocrose, Umhal, and Spepere, leaving upwards of 300 of the enemy ilcad on the field.
»- Lord Dorchester served with the Coldstream Guards in tho Crimean campaign from the iSth Oct. 1854, including
the battles of Balaklava and lukerman, si3ge and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the
MedjicUe, and Turkish Medal).
33 Colonel J. D. Downing served with the ist Battalion 12th Regiment throughout the N'ew Zealand war of
1863-65, including tho Waikaio campaign (Medal).
3* Colonel C. S. Dowson served with the 29th liegiment throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including
IhoatfairofRamnuggur, passngeof the Chenab, and battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat (Meda with two Clasps).
35 Colonel M. R. Eden landed wifh the 56th Regiment in the Ci-imea on the 25th August 1835, served at the siege
of Scbastopol, and v/as present at the final assault (Medal w.th Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
36 Colonel F. C. Evelegh served with the 20th Regt. the Eastern campaign of 1834-S3. and was present at the
battles of Atma, Balaklava, and Iiikerman, both attacks on tho Redan, and through the whole of the siege opera¬
tions before Sebastopol without being absent from a single tour of duty in tho Trenches; also at the capture of
Kinbourn. Embarked for India with the 20th Regiment, was made a Brigadier, and was present at the following
actions and affairs:—Chauda, Umeerporo, Saltanpore, siege of LucV-now. Also commanded an independent force
at Mahan, Husseuguugo, Meeangungr, Poorwah, Murrowmow, capture of i'ort Siinree, Berah, Buxarghat, and
the Fort of Oomero. Was mentioned about fifteen times in despatches; thanked twice by tho Governor General
in Council; has the Crimean Medal with four Clasps, order of CB., Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the Medjidie,
Turkis!-! Medal, and Indian Medal with Clasp.
37 Colonel P. P. Faddy commanded the Ro.yal Artillery in the engagement at Port Natal against the revolted Zulu
Chief Foro in 1846. He served in tho Kaflir war of 1853 in command of the Royal Artillery, and was named in the
