"* Brigade Surgeon M. G. Jones served with the 51st Light Infantry in the Jowaki campaign in 1877 (Medal with
Clasp)
^*^ Surgeon Major E. Y. Kellett served in the Crimea from the ist October 1854 to the 20th May 1856, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and in medical charge of detachments from Balaklava that took part in the battle on
the 25th October 1854. Was in medical charge of Russian wounded prisoners after Inkerman, and of the General
Field and Cholera Hospitals of the 3rd Division (Medal with two Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the New
Zealand war m 1863-65, and was in medical charge of the 14th Regiment at the battle of Rangiriri (mentioned in
despatches. Medal).
'*' Brigade Surgeon J. Kellie was in medical charge of a detachment 86th Regiment in 1857 at the siege and cap¬
ture of Dhar, action at Mundesore, battle of Googaria, and relief of Neemuch. Served also with the 17th Lancers
in Rajpootana and Central India, and was present at the action at Zeerapore m Dec. 1858 (Medal with ClasD).
**' Brigade Surgeon W. R. Kerans served with the 90th Regiment in the China Expedition of i860 (Medal).
Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's' Star).
250 Brigade Surgeon John Kinahan served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served
with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 in charge of Field Hospitals at Simneh and Sarkamatts (Clasp).
*5i Surgeon Major Thomas Kingston served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 with No. i Field Hospital, and
was present in the engagement at Hasheen, at that near Tofrek on the 24th March, and at the destruction of
Temai (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
252 Brigade Surgeon Henry Lamb served with the Waikato Field Force during the New Zealand war in 1863-
65 and was present at Paterangi, Waiari, and the subsequent operations of that campaign (Medal).
253 Brigade Surgeon B. Lane served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of 1852-53, including the attack
on the outpost of Tomboo and several operations in its vicinity (Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Noticed in General
Orders by the Commander in Chief in India of loth November 1853 for assiduous attention to the sick on an
occasion when the whole detachment at Tomboo were prostrated by fever. Also during the suppression of the
Indian mvitiny in 1858 and present at the action on the banks of the Jumna on the 5th March (Medal).

^* Brigade Surgeon H. J. H. Lawrence served the Crimean campaign from Nov. 1854, including the siege and
fail of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Soudan campaign in 1883 with the
Grenadier CJuards (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
*^5 Surgeon Major W. Leach served in medical charge of the Left Wing 71st Highlanders during the Central Indian
campaign under Sir John Michel, and was present at the battles of Beora, Mongroulie, Sindwayu, and affair of
Karrai (Medal).
"56 Brigade Surgeon D. A. Leslie served in the Bhootan Expedition, including the recapture of Dewangiri in 1865
(Medal with Clasp).
*=' Surgeon Major A. H. L'Estrange served in the operations in the Malay Peninsula in 1875-76 (Meilal with Clasp).
'^^ Surgeon Major F. A. L'Estrange served in the Ashanti war in 1873-74 iu medical charge of the ist West
India Regiment, and was present at the battle of Amoaful and the capture of Coomassie ; afterwards served as
Transport Medical Officer for the embarkation of the sick and wounded (Medal with Clasp). Served with the
Nile Expedition in 1884-85 (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
"«t Surgeon Major R. C. Lever served in the expedition against the Mohmund Tribes on the Punjab fi-ontier
in 1863-64 with the 7th Hussars (Medal with Clasp).
•59 Surgeon Major R. Lewins served with the 63rd Regiment the Eastern campaign of 1854, and up to the 13th Jan.
1855, incbiding the battles of Alma, Bnlaklava and Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, and
Turkish Medal). Served in the expedition to the north of China in i860 in charge of the hospital ship Mauritiua,
and was present at the capture of the Taku Forts (Medal).
2to Deputy Surgeon General J. R. M. Lewis served with the Rifle Brigade in the expedition against the insurgent
Boers, north of the Orange river, and was present at the action oCBoem Plaats on 29th August 1848.
261 Brigade Surgeon E. H. Lloyd served with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 in charge of the Field Hospital at
Kaibar (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
^* Brigade Surgeon A. Long served in the Afghan war of 1878-80 (Medal).
2M Surgeon Major A. E. T. Longhurst served in the Crimean campaign of 1854-55, including the siege of Sebas¬
topol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, and was present in
the actions at Jugdespore (mentioned in despatches for " untiring zeal and courageous attention throughout the
day") and Toolsepore (Medal).
'"" Brigade Surgeon E. L. Low, prior to entering the Army, served in the Royal Navj' from the 14th February
1856 to the 25th November 1858. Served through the campaign of i860 in North China (Medal). Also through
the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal). Served in the Afghan war of 1S78-80, and present at the capture of the Peiwar
Kotal in December 1878, the engagement at Charasiab, and in the various operations around Cabul from October
to December 1879, including the investment of Sherpore (Medal with three Clasps).
'■^ Brigade Surgeon J. J. M'Carthy served throughout the campaign in China in i36o (Medal with two Clasps).
Also in the operations against the Taeping rebels in 1862, and was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honor " aa
a mark of His Imperial Majesty's approbation of his services, while under fire, to French soldiers wounded in
China, and especially to the late Admiral Protet at the moment when he was mortally wounded." Also served in
the Afghan war in 1878-79 (Medal).
25« Surgeon Major D. D. McC.M'Douald served with the 25th Regiment on the expedition against the insurgent
Boers and taking of Port Nat.al in June 1842. Also with the 73rd Regiment throughout the Kaffir war of 1851-53
(Medal), and accompanied the expedition into Kreli's country in December 1851 as Senior Medical Officer.
267 Brigade Surgeon D. C. M'Fall served as Acting Assistant Surgeon on board H.M. s.s. James Watt during the
Baltic Expedition of 1854-55 (Medal).
"'" Surgeon Major B. L. M'Sheehy served in medical charge of the ist Dragoon Guards in China throughout the
campaign of i860, including the action of Sinho, the fall of the Taku Ports, the actions of the 18th and 21st Septem¬
ber, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with Clasps).
272 Brigade Surgeon C. Mackinnon served in the Indian mutinj- campaign in 1857-58, and was present at the
attack on the rebels near Peeroo in the Jugdespore Jungles on nth May 1858 (Medal).
''''* Deputy Surgeon General A. Maclean'sorvod the Eastern campaign up to the 30th Oct. 1854, and from 17th
Feb. 1855, including the battle of Balaklava, expedition to Kertoh and Yenikale, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal
with two Clasps, and Turkish Modal). Served the campaign of 1S57-58 against the mutineers in India, includ¬
ing the actions at Khodagunj and Shumsaliad, siege and fall of Lucknow, attack on the Fort of Rooyah, action
at AUygunge, and capture of Bareilly (Medal with Clasp).
»" Surgeon Major R. W. Meade served with the 88th Regiment at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from ist Dec.
1S54 and assault of the Redan on the 8th Septemlier (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Modal). Served in suppres¬
sion of the Indian mutiny in 1857-58, including the affair of Bhognapore, siege of Luoknow in March, and siege
of Calpee (Medal with Clasp for Central India).
"' Surgeon Major C. M.M. Millerserved with the 80th Regt. during the Indian mutiny in 1858-59 (Medal).
="9 Surgeon Mafor O. B. Miller served with the 77th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, capture of Balaklava, assaults on the Redan of the i8th June and 8th
September, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
