Detachment Southern Mahratta Horse in the pursuit through Central India, Mej-war, Marwar, and Rajpootana oJ
the rebels under Tantia Topee, Rao Sahcb, the Nawab of Banda, and Feroze Shah, and was present at the action at
Ohota Oodeypoor (mentioned in despatches as having distinguished himself, horse severely wounded by sabre
cuts. Medal with Clasp). Served with the Horse Transport Service in the China Expeditionary Force in i860,
under Sir Hope Grant, and was present at the landing at Fehtang, action of Sinho, capture of Tungkow, assault
and capture of the Taku Forts, and accompanied the advance of the army on Tien-Tsin and Pekin, including the
battles of Chang-kia-AVan and Tungchow, and occupation of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the Afghan.

an attack made by a Police Force upon the fort and position of Birwa on 26th August 1858 (Medal).

days' fighting in the streets, where he commanded the remnant of his Regiment for nearly 48 noiirs, all senior tc
him having been killed or disabled. Served with Greathed's Column in pursuit, and present at the e ction of Bolund-
shiir, affairs of Allyghur and Akerabad, and battle of Agra. With Sir Hope Cirant's Column at Canoge, during tho

the Aiumliagh Garrison, and at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde. Present with the force under Sir James Out-
ram at the Alumbagh until 14th Feb. 1858, and constantly engaged repelling the enemy's attacks. Commanded two
Ressallahsof Irregular Cavalry in the advance into Rohilcund and re-occupation of Bignour;(Medal with twoClaspf).
Served as Brigadier General in command of the 1st Brigade of Sir lionald Stewart's Division in the Afghan war of
1878-80, including tho sunendcr of Oandahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie and the occupation of Candahar till March 1880.
Was piesent in the advance to Ghuznee and Cabul, and in the engagements at Ahmed Khe.yl and Urzoo and in the

Annesley Bay in October 1867 with the Advance Brigade under Colonel Field; was cuiiiio.yed in making road
