Served throughout the Nile Expedition in 1BS4-85 with the Cameron Highlanders (mentioned in despatches,
Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served throughout the operations of the Soudan
Frontier Field Force in 1885-86 with the Cameron Highlanders, and was present at Kosheh during its invest¬
ment, commanded the reconnaissance of the i6th December, and the right attack on the village of Kosheh in the
engagement at Giniss (mentioned in despatches, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and DSO.).

Medal). Embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, and served throughout the second
phase of the Ashanti war in 1874, including the battle of Amoaful, advanced guard skirmishes and ambuscade
affairs between Adwabin and the river Ordah, battle of Ordahsu and capture of Coomassio (mentioned in de¬
spatches. Medal with Clasp). Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886-88 (Medal with Clasp).
"' Colonel A. Morris served with the 60th Rifles throughout the campaign of i860 in Cliina (Medal with two
Clasps). Served with the 3rd Battalion 60th Rifles in the latter part of the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp).
'"f Colonel R. C. D'E. Spottiswoode served with the loth Hussars in tlie Afghan war in 1879 (Medal). Served in

son from 22nd Aug. to 12th Nov. 1855 (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
'" Lt.Colonel C.W. Bruce served with the Carabineers from the outbreak at Meerut to the pacification of Oude
and commanded a Squadron at the actionof BunkagaononSthOct. 1858, also in the subsequent campaign, including
the actionsofMahoudisporeandRussoolpore.advanceonandcaptureofMitowlee,affairs of Allygunge and Biswar,
and pursuit of the rebels for three months through Rajpootana and Central India (Medal).
''^ Lt.Colonel J. T. Campbell served with the 72nd Highlanders in the Crimea from 13th June 1855, including
the expedition to Kertch, siege and fall of Sebastopol (wounded in the Trenches on the 19th Aug.), and attacks of
the i8th June and 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
"" Lord de Vesci served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta and
at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
1'* Colonel C. M. Russell accompanied the expedition up the River Gambia against the King of Baddiboo;
served on board H.M.S. Torch at the bombardment of the enemy's works on the banks of the Swarracunda
Creek on i6th Feb. 1861. Present at the landing storming and capture of the enemy's entrenched works, storm¬
ing capture and destruction of the fortified towns of Carawan on the i7tli, Kinty Cundy and Saba on the i8th,
also at the battle of Saba, and the storming capture and total destruction of the enemy's stockades on the 21st
Feb. 1861. Also served against the King of Quiah, and was present at the capture and destruction of Massongha
on loth Dec, of the stockades andwar fences at Madonkia on the night of the 3rd Dec, and of the Fetish town of
Robeah on 28th Dec. 1861; also of the towns of Mafemba and Majohn—mentioned in despatches. Served on the
Gold Coast from 6th July to 12th August 1873 (Medal).
^"> Colonel G. J. Harcourt served in the Madras Fusiliers in the Burmese war of 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp for Pegu)
and accompanied the force sent against the rebel chief Nga Bew. Served in the Indian mutiny campaign of
1857-58 attached to the 2nd Bengal Fusiliers and was present during the siege of Delhi, in the advanced bat¬
teries from 7th to nth Sept., assault of the city and six days' fighting therein. Commanded a field Column in
November 1857 ; sent to accompany Colonels Sherwill and Johnstoue of the Trigonometrical Survey to the Maree
Mountain on the Trans-Indus frontier; encountered and repulsed the enemy. Rejoined 1st Madras Fusiliers in
Feb. 1858 in defence of the Alumbagh under Outram, and present at the capture of Lucknow, in the campaign of 1858
in Oude, including passage of the Goomtee, and other minor affairs. Was Staff Officer to a Field Column
under Major Raikes which repulsed the enemy at Shahpore on 13th Oct. 1858 (Medal with two Clasps).
'2' Colonel R. Alexander was attached to the 7th Hussars at the siege and capture of Lucknow in March 1858 and
subsequent operations in Oude (Medal with Clasp).
'22 Colonel C. J. Mounsey-Grant landed in the Crimea in Dec 1854, and served with the 71st Highlanders in the
Trenches at the siege of Sebastopol, in the expedition to Kertch and Yenikali, destruction of and aU'au-s at Taman in
Sept. 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Sersed during thectmpaign of 1858 in Central India under Briga¬
dier Smith and Sir Hugh Rose, including the battle of Kotahkeserai and subsequent operations terminating in the
recapture of Gwalior. Served as Staff Officer to a Field Force under Sir Robert Napier in the jungles of Central
India from Nov. 1858 to May 1859 in pursuit of Tantia Topee and other rebel leaders, and was present at the
surprise and total rout of the rebels at Nairwass and other minor affairs (mentioned in despatches. Medal with
Clasp for Central India). Served with the Eusofzai Field Force under Sir Neville Chamberlain throughout the
campaign of 1863 against the Boneyrs and other Afghan tribes on the N. W. Frontier of India, including the forcing
of the Umbcyla Pass, action at the Eagle's Nest Pujuet, numerous outpost attacks, storm and recapture of the
Oaig liquet, and final engagement resulting in the total defeat of the assembled Hill Tribes (mentioned in des¬
patches, India Medal with Clasp for Umbeyla).
'24 Colonel T. H. Pitt served in the Crimean campaign from June 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
"6 Colonel R. A. Taylor served the Puujaub campaign of 1848-49, including the siege of Mooltan, attack of the
suburbs, storm of the city, and surrender of the fortress ; also the battle of Goojerat, surrender of the Sikh Army
at Rawul Pindee, and pursuit of the Affghaus to the Khyber Pass (Medal with two Clasps). Engaged in sup¬
pressing the mutiny of the 62ud and 69th Bengal N.I. and Horse Artillery at Mooltan on 31st Aug. 1858 (Medal).
"7 Colonel R. C. Goff served with the 50th Regiment in the Crimea from the 22nd August 1855, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
'2s Colonel C. B. Dashwood served in the Afghan war in 1878-79 with the Peshawur Valley Field Force, and was
present at the attack and capture of Ali Musjid (Medal with Clasp).
'*> Colonel A. W. J. Montgomerie served throughout the suppression of the Indian mutiny, with the Guide Cavalry
at the battle of Nujjufghur, and siege and capture of Delhi, and with the 1st Sikh Cavalry at the Alumbagh under
