(mentioned in despatches); accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at
the battle of Candahar (mentioned in despatches. Medal with three Clasps, and Bronze Decoration). Served as
Transport Officer with the Mahsood Wuzeeree Expedition in 1881 under Brigadier General Gordon.
" Captain Durham served with the lotii Hussars in the Afghan war in 1878-79, and was present in the engage¬

HerbertStewart, and was present at the action at Abu Klea (slightly wounded), in the engagement at AVni Klea
Wells on the i6th and 17th February, and in the reconnaissance toMetanimeh—slightly wounded (twice mentioned
in despatches. Brevet of Major, two Clasps).
