'1' Lt.Colonel E. A. Law served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the siege of Mooltan, attack on
the suburbs, storm of the city (wounded), and surrender of the fortress; also the battle of Goojerat, surrender of the
Sikh Army at Rawul Pindee, and pursuit of the Affghans to the Khyber Pass (Medal with two Clasps). Engaged
in suppressing the mutiny of the loth Bengal Light Cavalry at Ferozepore on 19th Aug. 1857 (Medal).
"' Lt.Colonel M. C. Lawsoii was in action with the forces of the Rajah of Shorapore on 8th Feb. 1858.
1'* Lt.Colonel F. Lean served with the Baltic expeditions in 1854 and 1855 (Medal). Served with the Royal
Marine Battalion, in co-operation with the French Army, at the bombardment and capture of the forts of Bomar-
Bund, Aland Isles, in Aug. 1854, and was in the Company that took possession of Fort Nottich, and brought away
the Russian garrison. Commanded the Detachment of Marines in a gunboat of the flotilla, and was actively
enga-ged with the enemy during the bombardment of Sweaborg in Aug. 1855. Served with the Battalion sent out
for service in Japan in 1864-66, and was present at the bombai'dment of the batteries at the Straits of Simono-
saki, the entrance of the inland sea of Japan, the assault capture and destruction of the five batteries, stockade,
magazines, and barracks, and during the shore operations, from the 5th to the 8th Sept. 1864.
'15 Lt.Colonel Le Champion served throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 (Medal for Ferozeshah). Also in
the Hill campaign and at the siege and capture of Kote Kangra in 1846. Suppression of the Indian mutiny, and
present at the outbreak at Meerut (wounded in the leg while reconnoitring), operations on the Hindun river of the
30th and 31st May 1857, battle of Budleekeserai, and taking of the heights before Delhi on the 8th Juno ; siege,
assault of the city, and capture of Delhi, including aflairs of the 9th 12th (horse shot) 15th i7tU 23rd and 2Qtli
June, 9th i8th anid 23rd July (Medal with Clasp). Was recommended for the Victoria Cross, and holds official
acknowledgment, dated i6th April 1858, of " zealous and efficient service on various occasions " from the Court of
Directors; also acknowledgments dated 5th June 1862 and 30th December 1864 " of great gallantry and devotion,"
and of "good and useful services in action " from the Major General commanding the forces at the siege of .Delhi,
and from the Commander in Chief of India.
"" Lt.Colonel C. S. Lemarchand served in the Indian mutiny campaign, and was present at the actions of Rajghur,
Mungrone, and Sindwaho (three times mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, and Medal).
'17'Lt.Colonel T. H. Lewin served in the Indian mutiny campaign, and was present at the defence of Cawn-
pore under General Windham, in Nov. 1857; also at the taking of the fortified town of Meergunge, the siege and
capture of Lncknow by Lord Clyde, relief of Azimghur. Served also with the Central India Field Force under
Brigadier Wheeler (Medal with two Clasps).
"8 Lt.Colonel A. C. J. M'Meekan served with the Baltic expedition in 1854 (Medal).
"' Lt.Colonel C. B. Macdonald servedin the Black Sea in the latter part of 1855, also in the Crimea during the
latter part of 1855 (Medal). Was present at the bombardment of the batteries at the Straits of Simonosaki, the
entrance of the inland sea of Japan, and as Adjutant to the 2nd Battalion R.M. at the capture and destruction
of the batteries, magazines, and barracks, and during the shore operations, from the 5th to the 8th September 1864.
"^o Lt.Colonel N. Macnamara served with the combined Force before Sebastopol during the siege and its fall;
was the senior Officer of R.M. Artillery employed in the Sea of Azof in June 1855, and was landed at Taganrog,
Marioupol, and Ghirsk, to destroy Government stores, &c. (mentioned in despatches); present at the bombardment
and surrender of Kiuboum (Medal with two Clasjis, 5th Class of the Medijdie, and Turkish Medal).
121 Lt.Colonel J. G. Marshall served throughout the China campaign of i860, including the action of Sinho, capture
of Tangku, and of the Taku Forts, and final operations terminating in the surrender of Pekin (Medal with two
Clasps).
'23 Lt.Colonel D. W. Martin served during the Indian campaign of 1857-58, from the commencement of the
outbreak as Assistant Field Engineer, was present at the advance onDelhi underthe Commander in Chief, General
Anson, and after his death under Sir H. Barnard ; was Orderly Officer to the Chief Engineer at the battle of Budle-
keserai, and was present at the siege of Delhi as Assistant Field Engineer (Medal with Clasp).
'^* Lt.Colonel G. E. Massy joined Havelock's Column at Cawnpore on 15th Sept. 1857, and was present in the
actions of Mungarwar and Alumbagh, assault on Lucknow and relief of the Residency, engaged thence at the
taking of the Cawnpore battery, and storming of the Engine House and King's Stables ; was subsequently with
Outram's Force in the Alumbagh, a,nd engaged in repcllint; the numerous attacks and in routing the enemy on 22nd
Dec.; also at the siege and fall of Lucknow (Medal with two Clasps, and grant of a year's service).
12^ Lt.Colonel W. G. R. Masters served in India during the mutiny in 1857-58. Served with the expedition to the
north of China and comma,nded the 2nd Battalion at the attack on the forts at the Peiho on 25th June 1S59—
severely wounded, and mentioned in despatches (Brevet of Major). Served throughout the operations in the north
of China in i860 (Medal).
12^ Lt.Colonel'T. G. S. Meheux served with the Baltic expedition in 1854 (Medal).
i*'' Lt.Colonel Meik served with the i6th Lancers throughout the campaign in AfFghanistan under Lord Keane,
including the seizure and capture of Ghuznee (Medal). He was also present in the' battle of Maharajpore on the
29th Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). Served in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, including the actionsat Buddiwai, Ahwal, and
Sobraon (Medal and one Clasp).
'^^ Lt.Colonel Mercer served in the Turkish Contingent at Varna, and in the entrenched Camp at Kertch, com¬
manding successively the 3rd (Albanians), 6th, and 8th Regiments (4th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
"1 Lt.Colonel E. S. Milman served vrith the Seetabuldee combined Field Force during the mutiny in June 1857,
and with the Kamptee Flying Column from 9th Nov. to 31st Dec. 1838 (Medal).
"2 Lt.Colonel C. B. H. Mitchell served with the Baltic expeditions in 1854 and 1855, and was employed in the
rocket-boats at the bombardment of Sweaborg on the gth August (Modal). Served with the expedition to the
Baltic until the declaration of peace in 1856.
"* Lt.Colonel M. S. Morgan served with the 14th Regiment in the West Coast campaign in the New Zealand
war of 1865-66 (Medal).
135 Lt.Colonel A. G. B. Morley served with the 51st Regiment throughout the Burmese war of 1852; was on board
the E.I.C. steam-frigate Ferooz during the naval action and destruction of the enemy's stockades on the Rangoon
river; served during the succeeding three days' operations in the vicinity (including the storming of the AVhite
House Redoubt), and at the storm and capture of Rangoon (Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Served in the Indian
mutiny campaign, including the surrender of Kirwee (Medal).
136 Lt.Colonel U. L. Morris served with the Baltic expeditions in 1854 and 1855, including the action with a battery
at the mouth of the Narva on i8th June, and at the bombardment of Sweaborg (Medal).
13' Lt.Colonel H. Murray served throughout the Indian mutiny campaign of 1S57-58, includingthc bnttlcs of Bud¬
leekeserai, and Nujjufghur, throughout the siege and capture of Delhi, actions of Bolundshuhnr, .VUyghur, Agra,, and
Kanouge and relief of Lucknow1)y Lord Clyde, actions at Cawnpore on 5th and 6th Sept., at Seraighat, Futtehgur, and
Shumshabad (Medal with two Clasps).
133 Lt.Colonel H. M. Nepean was employedduring the mutiny against insurgents in the Raepore, Rukunpore, and
Sumbulpore districts in 1857-58 ; present at the capture of Govind-Sing of Sonakhan and fourteen of his armed
followers on i ith December 1857 ; at the action and forcing of the Singorah Pass 19th January 1858; in the action
with the cavalry at Gringall in the Sumbulporo district, and other minor affairs (Medal).
1*1 Lt.Colonel A. Nicholas served with the 46th Regiment in the Crimea in 1854-55, including the siege and fall of
Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Modjidie, and Turkish Medal).
m Lt.Colonel A. J. Ogilvie served with the Seetabuldeo comiiined Field Force during the mutiny in June 1857, and
with the Kamptee Flying Column from gth Nov. to 31st Dec. 1858 (Medal).
1*3 Lt.Colonel R. D. Osborn served throughout the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-59 i present at the
actions oi Boolundshuhur and AUyghur ; commanded a detachment of the 4th Punjaub Infantry at the actions of
Gungeree and Puttiallee ; present in various oper.ations against the rebels in the Agva district; served with Col.
Troup's Column in Oude, and present at the action of Biswah: served with the Saugor Field Force under Generai
Whitlo.ck from January to May 1859 ; commanded a field detachment in the Ooraie district; defeated a party of
rebels at Tudhoorkee; and served with the Bundlecund Field Force under Brigadier Wheeler in 1859-60 (Medal).
1" Lt.Colonel W. H. Parker served with the 17th Regiment in the Crimea from the 6th Sept. 1855, includiun- the
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and was wounded at the assault of the Redan on the 8th Sept. 1855; was also present
at the bomliardment and surrender of Kinboum (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
1*6 Lt.Colonel W. Patterson served with the 32nd Regiment in the ist and 2nd siege operations before Mooltan,
including the storm and capture of the city; he was also present at the surrender of the fort and garrison of
