General Galloway was actively
employed in Jamaica during the in¬
surrection of the Negroes in 1831-32
in command of a Detachment of the
33rd Regiment. Commandedthc Pe-
shawur brigade during the Indian
mutiny in 1857-38 (Medal) as Briga¬
dier of the ist class, which appoint¬
ment he retained until his embarka¬
tion with the last Division of the 70th
Regiment for New Zealand in March
1861. On promotion to Major General
he commanded the Colonial Forces
in the province of Auckland from
July 1863 to February 1865, during
the operations in the North Island
(Medal).

'" Major Harvey was attached by the Government to the service of the British National Society for Aid to the
Sick and Wounded in the Franco-German war of 1870-71, and was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit. He has
also been awarded the Silver Medal of the Royal Humane Society for saving two lives from drowning when on
duty as Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General disembarking the 4th Regiment from H.M.S. Tamar at Queens-
town on the night of the 4th August 1874. Served in the operations against Sekukuni in 1878 as Staff Offleer for
the Transvaal. Served in the Zulu war of 1879 as Staff Officer of No. 5 Column, and afterwards as Brigade Major
ist Brigade, and Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General in the 1st Division (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Wilson served with the 71st Highland Light Infantry throughout the campaign of 1S63 against the
Boneyrs and other hill tribes on the N.W. Frontier of India. Commanded the Sharpshooters from the nth Novem¬
ber to the ist December, from which latter date till the end of the campaign he acted as Adjutant of the Regiment
(Medal with Clasp).
