' Sir Arthur Lawrence commanded the 2nd Batt. Rifle Brigade throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854 up to
5th November; the First Brigade Light Division from 5th Nov. 1854 to 5th Feb. 1S55 ; and the 2nd Brigade 2nd Divi¬
sion from 25th Dec. 1855 till the end of the Crimean war, and wa,s present at the battles of Alma (horse killed) and
Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, CB., Officer of the Legion of Honor, 3rd Class of the
Mcdjidie, and Turkish Medal).
^ Captain Howley served with the 6th Regiment in the Indian mutiny campaign (Medal). Also in the Hazara
campaign of 1868, including the subsequent operations in the Black Mountain (Modal with Clasp.)
8 Captain Liebenrood served with Ihe sSth Regiment in the Zulu campaign of 1879. Was present in the engage¬
ment at Ulundi (twice wounded, mentioned in despatches, Meditl with Clasp).

'' Lieut. Blake served in the latter part of the Zulu war of 1879, first with the 57th Regiment, and afterwards as
Garrison Adjutant at Fort Pearson (Medal with Clasp).
1' Lieut. Michel served throuijhout the Zulu war of 1879, first in the Transport Service and afterwards in the
Remount Establishment (Modal with Clasp).
" Lieut. Warden served with the 57th Regiment in the Zulu war of 1879, and was jiresent at the action ot
■Gingindhlovu and relief of Ekowe (Medal with Clasp).
15 Lieut. Towers-Clark served with the 57th Regiment in the Zulu campaign of 1^79, including the action of
Gingindhlovu and relief of Ekowe. Served afterwards to the end of the war as Orderly Officer to Lt.Colonel
Clarke while commanding successively the 2nd Brigade ist Division and " Clarke's Colunm." Made several road
surveys, including the road in Zululand fr. m St. Paul's to the Middle Drift of the Tugela River (Medal with Clasp).
20 Quarter Master Wood served with the 57th Regiment in the Crimea from the 23rd September 1854, including
the battles of Balaklava and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, attack of the Redan on the 18th June, bom¬
bardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served also in the New
Zealand war frora 1S61 to 1866 in the provinces of Tarannki and Wanganui (Medal). Served with the 57th Regi¬
ment in the Zulu war of 1879, and was present at the action of Gingiudhlovu and relief of Ekowe, and throughout
the operations of "Clarke's Column " (Medal with Clasp).
