Coldsiream Guards. 232
1 Sir William Codi-ington commanded a Brigade of the Light Division, and afterwards a Division throughout
the Eastern campaign of 1834-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkorman, siege and fall of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasps, s:CB., Commander of the Legion of Honor, Grand Cross of the Military Order of Savoy,
ist Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). From 11 November 1855, and until the evacuation of the Crimea,
he was Commander in Chief of the Eastern Army. Has also the Medaille Militaire of Prance, as having com¬
manded an army in alliance with France.
'> Colonel FitzRoy served the Eastern campaign of 1854, in the 41st Regiment, including thebattlesofAlmaand
Inkerman (severely wounded), and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
'3 Colonel Hall served at the siege of Sebastopol from 20th Nov. 1S54 to i6th Jan. 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and
Turkish Medal).
1* Colonels Wigram and Lambton served at the siege and fall of Sehastopol from nth Dec. i854(Medal with Clasp,
5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
15 Colonel Lord Wm. F. E. Seymour served as a Midshipman with the Baltic Fleet in 1854 (Medal). . , ,.
i« Lt.Colonel Fremantle served with the Rifle Brigade in the Crimea from 3rd Dec. 1854 to 9th July 1855, including
the siege of Sebastopol; also commanded 163 men at the last sortie of the Russians against the Quarries on 7th-8tn
June, and commanded the Woolsack party of the Light Division at the assault of the Redan on i8th June—severely
wounded (Medal with Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals). Served also in the Indian campaign, including the
siege and capture of Lucknow, Trans-Gogra campaign, with expedition into Nepaul—mentioned in despatches
(Medal with Clasp).

Sculs Guards.
' Lord Rokeby served the campaign of 1S15 with the 3rd Guards, and was present at the battles of Quatre Bras
and Waterloo. Served the Eastern campaign of 1855 in command of the ist Division, inclutling the siege and fall ot
Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, iTCiJ., Commander of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian Medal, Turkish Medal, and
3rd Class of the Medjidie).
2 Colonel Gipps served the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles of Alma (bayonet wound of hand),
Balaklava, and fukerman (severely wounded, shot through neck), siege of Sebastopol and sortie on the 26th Oct.
(Medal with four Clasps, Brevet of Major, Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
5 Colonel .Moncrietl'served in the Crimea from 2nd May 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal
with one Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
' Colonel Walker served as Assistant Military Secretary to General Sir Arthur Cunynghame in South Africa,
and was present in all the operations under that General in the Kafir war of 1878, and employed on many im¬
portant missions. Was afterwards appointed Military Secretary to Sir Bartle Freie, and was one of ihe
delegates sent with the ultimatum to King Cetywayo. Ou the breaking out of the Zulu war was appointed
Assistant Adjutant General to Colonel Pearson's Division, aiul was present at the battle of Inyezane and the
occupation of Ekowe during its two months' investment by the Zulus (mentioned m despatches). Arterwards as
Commandant of the Lower Tugela {C3. Medal with Clasp),
* Lt.Colonel Hon. P. S. Methuen served in the second phase of the Ashanti war from the 17th Dec. 1874, and was
present at the battle of Amoaful (Medal with Clasp).
s Captain Paget served in the second phase of the Ashanti war from the 17th December 1873, attached to Captain
Butler's command (Medal).
1* Quarter Master M'Blain served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma, Balaklavn,
and Inkcrman, siege of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie on the 26th October 1854 (Medal with four Clasps,
Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
