War Services.—Eoyal Marine Light Infantry. 40ie
1^ Lieut. E. B. Stephens served in the first phase of the Ashanti war, and was In command of the outpost camps
of Abbayo and Napoleon (Medal).
""Lieut. Hearle served in the Ashanti War of 1S73-74. AVas sent in October as Special Commissioner to the
King of Denkera, and served as Assistant Engineer from the middle of November to the end of the war, and was
present at the battle of Amoaful (Medal with Clasp).
1™ Lt.Colonel Cooke served on the China expedition of 1857-sg, including the blockade of the Canton river, the
landing before and capture of Canton in command of one of the storming Companies, also present at the White
Clond Mountain affair in June 1858, capture of Namtow, and capture of batteries at Shektsing; served afterwards
as D.A.Q.M. General to the Ai-my in garrison at Canton (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
i4*> Quarter Master 'White served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Balaklava and siege of
Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and Medals for Meritorious Conduct).
"1 Quarter Master Page served in the Crimean war of 1854-5 (Medal with two Clasps), and throughout the
China war of 1857-61 (Medal with Clasp). Has received the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.
"- Quarter Master Brown served throughout the campaign in China, 1S37-61 (Medal with two Clasps). lias
received the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.
