' Sir Frederick William Hamilton served with the Grenadier Guards throughout the Eastern campaign of 1S54-55,
including the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman (slightly wounded and horse shot), sortie of 26th October,
and siege of Sebastopol, during the latter period of which he commanded Divisicins of the Army iu the Trenches,
and was in temporary command of the Grenadier Guards after Inkcrman {CB., Medal with four Clasps, Officer of
the Legion of Honor, 3rd Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
' Lt.Colonel Templemanserved with the 21st Fusiliers throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the
battles of Alma., Balaklava, and Inkerman (wounded in the hand), siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack of the Redan
'On 18th June; also the expedition to Kinbooi-n (Medal with four Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish
Medal).
8 Major Gildea served as Adjutant of the nth Regiment of the Turkish Contingent from Sept. 185510 its disband*
ment in May 1856 (Turkish Med:i.l).
' Ma.jor Hazlerigg served with tlie 21st Fusiliers during the latter part of 1855 at the siege and fall of Sebastopol

1^ Major Furlong was appointed to the Purveyor's Department of the Expedition which proceeded to the East
in March 1854, and served in Turkey, Bulgaria, and the Crimea until April 1855, when he was Gazetted to the 21st
Fusiliers, and served with the Regiment before Sebastopol until ordered to the Depot on the 3i8t May 1855 (Medal
with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
'* Major Stevenson served with the 54th Regiment during the Indian mutiny, including Lord Clyde's campaign
in Oude in 1858-59 (Medal), berved also in the Bhootan Expedition of 1S64-65 (Medal with Clasp).
^^ Captain Hewat served as Aljutant of H.M. Hospital Ship Victor Emanttel oS Cape Coast Castle, and vras
also employed on the river Volta during the Ashanti war of 1874 (Medal).
18 Captain Pollock served in the Ashanti war from the 30th Xovember 1873 (Medal with Clasp).
1^ Captain Auchinleck served in the Ashauti war, in 1874, iu the Transport Service (Medal with Clasp).
22 Quarter Master Browne served with the 21st Fusiliers in the Crimea from November 1854, including thesiege
.and fall of Sebastopol and e.xpeditioQ to Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Has also the Medal
for long service.

' Sir Trevor Chute embarked with the 70th Regiment for India, where he served for twelve years, and was con¬
stantly and actively employed during the whole of the mutiny (Medal), particularly in command of a Field Force
iu the district of Peshawur, with which he attacked and ou the 24th of May 1857 occupied, with severe loss to the
mutineers, the Fort of Hote Murdaw, relieving the officers of the 55th Native Infantry, who were held priaoners b.v
their own men. For this service he received the thanks of the Governor General iu Council. In August 1857 iii
state of mutiny attacked the cantonments of Peshawur. From August 1858 to January i860 he commanded a
Brigade at Lucknow until it was broken up at the suppression of the rebellion. In February 1861 he embarked
in command of the 70th Regt. for New Zealand. In March 1863 was appointed Brigadier General in command of
the Australian colonies ; iu 1865, as Major General, succeeded Lt.Gen. Sir Duncan Cameron in the command of New
Zealand and Australian colonies; and during the war in New Zealand, in 1865-66, commanded on various important
and successful operations (KCB. and Medal), and continued in that command until Oct. 1870, when it was broken up.
"■ Lt.Colonel Glass served with the 37th Regt. in India during the mutiny of 1857-58, and was engaged in the
attack on the rebel position near Benares at Atrowlea andKoelsa, defence of Azimghur and sortie thence; proceeded
with Brigadier Douglas' Column in pursuit of Koer Singh, and present in the actions of 17th and 20th Ajiril; also
with Colonel Turner's Column in Shahabad and Palamon, including the capture of Jugdespore and actions of 17th
i8th and 20th October (Medal).
* Captain Bowers accompanied the expedition up the River Gambia against the King cf Baddiboo; was present
at the bombardment of the enemy's eni.renched works on the Vjanks of the Swarracunda Creek, i6th February ;
/It the landing storming and capture of thcj enemy's entrenched works ; at the storming capture and destruction of
the fortified towns of Carawan on ihe i7i-h, Kiuty Cunda and ,S ibaon the i8th Februiry ; also at the battle of Saba,
and the storming capture and total destruction of the enemy's stockades on the 2i»t February 1861.
