Kwiusan, and subsequent operations uj) to and including the fall of Soochow (mentioned in despatches, and ist
Class Golden Order oi the Dragon). Commanded a Battery of Armstrong 12-pounders throughout the Abyssiniaa
campaign inna the 13th Dec. 1867 and was present at the capture of Magdala (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of
Major, and Medal).
''^s Colonel Mackenzie served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle of Inkerman, siege and
fallof Sebastopol, in the Trenches with the siege train, ^nd bombardments of 17th October, gth April, and 6th and 17th
June, 17th August, and 8th September; commanded rocket train at the bombardment of Kinboum (Brevet

mutinous sepoys at Mooltan on 31st March (mentioned in despatches); also served in Central India, and waa
present at the capture of Fort Nahurgah; subsequently commanded a flying colunm in pursuit of Tantia Topee;
and afterwards served as Brigade Major to the Royal Artillery of the Malwa Division (Medal).

the action of Secundra on 23rd Jan. (Medal).
150 Colonel Teesdale served as Aide de Camp to Major General Sir W. F. Williams during the whole of the
blockade of Kars, and at the battle on the Heights above that town on the 29th Sept. 1855. Successfully held the
Redoubt caUed " Yuksek Tabia " for the space of seven and a half hours under a very heavy fire on the 2gth Sept.
1855, and was mentioned in the despatch. Received a severe contusion from a grape-shot in the leg. The rank of
Lt.Colonel and the 3rd Class of the Turkish Imperial Order of the Medjidie were conferred upon him by the Sultan.
In a letter from the Foreign Office, dated 7th March 1855, Her Majesty's Government conveyed their sense of
approval of his efforts in averting from the Garrison of Kars the horrors that they suffered from famine in the pre¬
ceding winter. In virtue of his rank of Lt.Colonel in the Turkish Service he received the Order of Companion of
the Bath and that of the 4th Class of the Legion of Honor. Has also received the Victoria Cross.
