- Major Cooper served with the 93rd Highlanders throughout the Eapteni campaign of 1854-55, including the
battles of Alma and Balaklava, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal and three Clasps, Sardinian and Turkish
Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie). Served also in the Indian campaign from the 20th Sept. 1857 to 20th Aug.
1858; present at the storming of the Secunderbagh and severely wounded in the head in a hand-to-hand fight,
bemg the first officer to enter the breaeh of that place ; was also engaged in all the subsequent operations which
led to the relief of the Residency ; subsequent relief of Cnwnpore, and defeat of the Gwalior Contingent with
pursuit to Soraighnt. action of Khala Nuddee, occupation of Furruckabad, siege and fall of Luckncw, including
the storming of the ilrirtiniere, Begum Cottee, and minor operations; pureuit of the rebels through Rohilcund
and Oude, actions liefore and fall of Bareilly from 5th to 9th May (Medal with two Clasp.s).
* Captain Green served in the 14th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1863-65, and was present in the action
of Kokeroa and Rangariri (mentioned in desjiatches, Medal).
Tyrone.—= Major Buchan.an served with ,the 88th Regt in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the actions
at Cawnpore under Major Gen. Windham, battle of Cawnipore on 6th Dec, capture of Lucknow, operations in the
Doab with the Column under Col. G. V. Maxwell, to whom he was Orderly Olficer, and siege and capture of Caljiee in
May 1858 (Medal with Clasp).
The Tower Hamlets.—' Captain Nott served with the Field Force against the rebel Karens in Burmah in Jan.
1857, and on two occasions commanded a Detachment of the 35th Regt. engaged with the enemy, and received a letter
of approbation from the Governor General in Council. Served with the 35th Regiment during the Indian mutiny
in 1857-58.
2 Quarter Master White served with the 50th Regt. the Gwalior campaign, and was present at the battle of
Punniar 29 Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). Served also the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee.
Ferozeshah. Aliwal, and SobraOn (Medal and three Clasps)—at Sobraon he carried the Queen's Colour after Captain
Needham, who had carried it, was wounded. Was mentioned in the despatch of Brigadier Ryan, commanding
the Second Britrade, for conduct of the most distinguished naiure at the battle of Ferozeshah, and also frequently
noticed by Sir Harry Smith, commanding the Division. Has also a Medal for Meritorious Services.
^ Lt.Colouel Halkett served with the 71st Highlanders in the Crimean campaign from the 5th February to the
17th September 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol and Expeditions to Kertch and Yenikale (Medal
with Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals).
■* Major de Salis served as a volunteer with the Cape Mounted Riflemen during the Kaffir war of 1851-52 (Medal).
' Lt.Colonel Macnamara was engaged with the 59th Regt. in the expedition from Canton to the White Cloud Moun¬
tains in June 1858, including the action with the Braves on 3rd June; was a,lso present at the storming and capture
by escalade of the walled city of Namtow,-iith Aug. 1858 (Medal).
^ Major Tewart served with the 6th Regiment in the Indian campaign in 1858, and was present n the affair at
Peroo and subsequent operations in the Jugdespore Jungle (Medal).
' Captain Frobisher served with the 55th Regiment on the Bhootan expedition, including the recapture of Dewan-
giri in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).
* Captain Conran served in the 86ih Regiment with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh Rose in
1857-58, and was present at the actions of Koonch, all the operations before Calpee from the 15th to the 22nd May,
battle of Golowlie, capture of the town and fortress of Calpee, battle of Morar, battle before and capture of the
town and fortress ot Gwalior, and taking of Fowrie ; also at the pursuit and total route of the rebels at Beejapore
(Medal with Clasp).
Warwick.—1 Lt.Colonel Grimston served with the 19th Rogt. in the Crimea from 5th Jan. to 21st July 1855
(Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).
- Lt.Colonel Vaughton served with the 90th Light Infantry at the siege of Sebastopol from 2nd Dec. 1854 to 29th July
1855, and was present at the repulse of the Russian sortie on the night of the 22nd March, in which he commanded a
Detachment of the 90th; was also at the taking of the Quarries on the 7th June, and attack on the Redan on the i8th
June (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
Westmeath.—1 Major Gardiner served on the Staff of Colonel Outram, and in command of a Detachment cf
the 17th Regt. in the Southern Mahratta campaign of 1844-45, and was present at all the operations of the Light
Field Force, including the capture of Gotea, 21st, and of Munohui* Stockades and Fort, 25th Jan. 1845 ; at the latter
be led the Forlorn Hope, and was severely wounded. Of his party of sixteen men, four were killed and nire
wounded. Received the thanks of the Governor in Council of Bombay, and those of the Commander in Chief in
India, in general orders for his services.
' Sir Walter George Nugent served with the 33rd Regiment the Eastern campaign of 1854 and up to the 5th
February 1855, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Claspp,
5th Ciass of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
Westmorland.—1 Major Draffen served in the Baltic during the latter part of 1854 (Medal). Was at the blockade
of Odessa, and also before Sebastopol dui'ing the siege in 1S55 (Medal with Clasp, and Tuikish Medal).
Wexford.—'' Major Alcock served with the 95th Regt. in the Crimean campaign from the 15th Jan. 1855, including
the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Meda) with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
Wicklow.—1 Lt.Colonel Howard served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 44th Regt. including the battles
of Alma and Balaklava, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
Wiltshire.—1 Lt.Colonel Bellers was present with the 50th Regt. at the battle of Punniar (Bronze Star), 29th Dec.
1843. Served also the campaign on the Sutlej in 1845-46 (Medal and three Clasps), including the battles of Moodkee,
Ferozeshali, Aliwal (wounded), and Sobraon; he acted as Adjutant to his Regt. nearly the whole of the campaign.
Worcester.—1 Major Norbury served as Captain in the 6th Dragoon Guards in the Crimean campaign from 2nd
July to 4th Sept. 1855, and was present at the battle of the Tchemaya and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasij,
and Turkish Medal).
York.—1 Lt.Colonel Gunter served with the 4th Dragoon Guards in the Crimea in October 1854, including the
siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
* Captain Blake served with the Carabineers in Oude and the Trans-Gogra district in 1858-59, and was present
at the action of Doondiakera, affairs of Churda, taking of the Fort of Mujeedia, and action of Bankee (Medal).
" Lt.Colonel Balguj' sei-ved as a Lieutenant in the 6th Regt. in the Kaffirwarof 1846-47 (Medal), during the latter
part of which he was selected to organize and command a mounted force of 80 men of the regiment. Served as
Captain of the Light Company of the 4th ilegt. in the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles of Alma and
Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
* Lt.Colonel Grimston served with the 2nd Queen's Royals in the Kaffir war of 1851-52 (Medal); also with the
expedition North of the Orange River in 1&52-53.
= Captain Gumming served with the 48th Regiment in the Crimea from the 21st April to the 7th August 1855,
including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
(■ Lt.Colonel Dowker served as Adjutant of the 6th Regt. in the Kaffir war of 1846-47 (Medal).
' Captain Cubitt served in the Crimea from 13th Nov. 1854, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, the sorties
of 6th April and loth May, and attack on the Quarries, and of the Redan on the i8th June; was wounded in the
trenches on the 28th June (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
« Major Bates served with the 65th Regiment during the New Zealand war of 1860-61, at Taranaki, and was
present at the operations at Huirangi and before Te Arei. Was afterwards appointed Native Interpreter to the
Forces, and was present on the Staff at the outbreak of hostilities in the Taranaki district in 1863, capture of the
Pa Katikira, and subsequently in the Waikato district (Medal).
5 Captain Leake served with the 70th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1863-65, including operations in the
provinces of Taranaki and Waikato (Medal).
1" Captain Croker served with a Detachment of the 6th Regt. sent from Bombay in 1837 against the rebels in
Canara. Served in the Kaffir war of 1846-47 (was Acting Adjutant in the Trans-Koi expedition); also in that of
