»«« Major Owen was employed during 1855 and part of 1856 with the Turkish Contingent under Lieut.General
Vivian in Turkey and the Crimea, and has received the Order of the 4th Class of the Medjidie. Commanded a detach¬
ment of the aSth Madras Native Infantry in the suppression of the Indian Mutiny in the Jubbulpore district in 1858.
Major Parish has received the Medal for the Punjaub campaign of 1846.
Major Thomas Park was actively employed in the Baltic during 1810, 1811, and 1812. From 1813 until the
peace served on the coast of America and the West Indies, including the attack on Cranie Island, and landed at the
taking of Hampton, in the Chesapeake.
"^ Major J. H. Parry served with the Battalion sent out for service in Japan in 1864-60, and was present at the
bombardment of the batteries at the Straits of Simonosaki, the entrance of the inland sea of Japan, the assault
capture and destruction of the five batteries, stockade, magazines, and barracks, and during the shore operations
from the 5th to the 8th Sept. 1864.
*'* Major Pengelley served with the expedition to the Baltic in 1855 (Medal). He has also the Silver Medal from
the Eoyal Humane Societ3-.
"'^ Major Pleydell served the Syrian campaign of 1840—at D'Jouni, the storming of Sidon, and bombardment of
Acre (War Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also with the Baltic Expeditions in 1854and 1855(Medal).
"*' Sir Rose Larabart Price was present at the storming of Canton in December 1857, also at the attack on the
Peiho Forts in June 1859 (wounded), went with the Battalion under Colonel Gascoigne to the North of China in
i860, and was present at the action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, capture of Taku Forts, affairs of the 21st and
23rd September, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with three Clasps).
"*' Major Rider served in Syria in 1840 and has the Medal and Clasp and Turkish Medal. Served also with the
Baltic expedition in 1855 (Medal).
'"■^ Major R. S. Ridge served the Mahratta and Pindaree campaigns of 1817-18, and afterwards with the expedition
to the Persian Gulf, including the siege of Ras-el-Kyma.
*>* Major Sayer served the Syrian campaign of 1840-41 (Medal with one Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also with
the Expeditions to the Baltic in 1834 and 1855, and with the R.M. Battalion serving in co-operation with the French
army at the siege and capture of Bomarsund (Medal).
"<* Major A. B. S. Shairp served with the Baltic expedition in 1855, including the destruction of telegraph
stations on 29th June, and the shelling a large body of troops on 1st July (Medal). Served in China in 185S-59,
against pirates ; also during the campaign of i860 (Medal).
"'" Major Stack served throughout the operations in Scinde (Medal), including the destruction of Imaumghur and
the battles of Meeanee and Hj-derabad (severely wounded). Was afterwards present at Panulla, Pownghur,
Muimohur and Munsuntosh. Served in China during the operations against the Taeping rebels in the vicinity of
Shanghai in April and May 1S62, resulting in the taking of the stockade at Nansing, capture of the walled cities
of Kading. Tsinpoo, and Tsolin, the fortified town of Najow, and the affair of Nansing; also commanded the 67th
Regt. at Fahwa when the rebels were compelled to evacuate the district within the 30 miles radius.
"' Major J. H. Symons served with the Baltic expedition in 1854 (Medal).
"^ Major R. F. Tayler served with the R.M. Brigade in the Crimea from Feb. 1855 until the fall of Sebastopol
(Medal with Clasp, and Tnrkish Medal).
"^ Major David Thomson served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Also during the siege and capture
of Delhi in 1857 (Medal with Clasp).
"* Major Ussher served in China in 1841-42 (Medal), at the first capture of Chusan, attack on Chuanpee, and cap¬
ture of Amoy. Served also with the Baltic Expedition in 1854 and in 1855 (Medal).
"5 Major Walker served as Adjutant with a wing of the 45th Regt. in the Kaffir war of 1850-53 (Medal), and was
mentioned hy the Commander in Chief there for gallant conduct in repulsing and pursuing a large body of the
enemy at Fort Cox on the 28tli Sept. 1851; he was also three times noticed in despatches.
"' Major C. E. Watson commanded a Detachment of Artillery on Field Service against HiU Karens in Pegu in
Jan. and Feb. 1857, and again in Feb. and March 1858.
'™ Major Woolhouse commanded the Light Company of the 84th Regt. at the outbreak of the Mutiny in India in
1857, and was sent to keep open the communication between Allahabad and Benares, near the village of Goope-
gunge he defeated a large body of rebels, afterwards he escorted half a battery of artillery from that place to
Mungarwar in Oads, and there joined General Havelock's Field Force on 4th August, and was present in the
actions of Buseerutgunge, Boorbeeake Chowkee, Bithoor, Mungarwar, and Alumbagh, assault and relief of
Lucknow where he captured a gun (severely wounded, right arm amputated. Medal with Clasp).
922 Port Major Austin served in the 35th Regiment during the campaign of 1813 and 14 in Holland, including the
first investment of Bergen-op-Zoom, both actions at Merxem; he was severely wounded in the left arm when
engaged with the enemy's piquets on the night of the ist Feb. 1814 ; and in following up the advantage (after the
second capture of Mer.xem) to the gates of Antwerp his left leg was struck off by a cannon-ball, and his left side
lacerated by another round-shot.
»24 Lieut. Humfrey served in the Peninsula and was present at the battles of Nivelle and Nive (War Medal with
two Clasps).
'2s Lieut. Meares was at the capture of the town of Groa, and a convoy of twenty-five vessels on 28th June
181Q. Landed at Ortona 12th Feb. 1811, captured eleven vessels and destroyed two large magazines after planting
the British Colours at the gate of the town. Wounded at the battle of Lissa 13th March. Landed with his Detach¬
ment 27th July, near Ragoniza, captured and destroyed twenty-eight vessels after the defeat of 300 French soldiers.
Present at the capture of Pomone and Fersanne 29th Nov. 1811. Has received the War Medal with three Clasps.
92« Lieut. David Scott has received the War Medal with three Clasps for Egypt, Martinique, and Albuhera.
'27 Lt.Colonel G. S. Twynam served with the 6ist Regiment at the siege and capture of Delhi in 1857, and the
action of Nujjufghur; and with the 13th Light Infantry in the actions at Doomureahgunge, Toolsepore, and
Bootwab (Medal with Clasp).
'2' Lt.Colonel J. Shute served in the Royal Navy during the operations on the Coast of Syria (Turkish Medal,
a.nd Naval War Medal with one Clasp). In 1854-55 he served with the R.M. Brigade in the Crimea, part of the
time as Quarter Master of Brigade during the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and at the battle of Balaklava, and
commanded a Company at the capture of Kiubourn (Medal with two Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish.
Medal); he was also at the bombardment at Odessa, 22nd April, 1854-
9*' Lt-Colonel S. A. Hunter served in the Indian N-W. Frontier war of 1S63, and was present at the attack and
capture of the Conical Hill and Umbejla (Medal with Clasp)'
9™ Major R. A. Brutton served with the combined force before Sebastopol during the siege in 1854-55, ^nd
with the expedition to Kertch and Yeni Kal<5 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Clasp).
