' Lt.Colonel Webber served in the 17th Regiment in the Crimea from the 12th Sept. 1855, and was at ttie bom¬
bardment and surrender of Kinbourn (Crimean and Turkish Medals). Commanded the 2nd West India Regiment
in the Ashanti war of 1873-74 {CB., Medal with Clasp).
^ Lt.Colonel Russell accompanied the expedition up the River Gambia against the King of Baddiboo; served on
board H.M.S. Torch at the bombardment of the enemy's works on the banks of the Swarracunda Creek on i6th
Feb. 1861. Present at the landing storming and capture of the enemy's entrenched works, storming capture and
destruction of the fortified towns of Carawau on the 17th, Kinty Cundy and Saba on the i8th, also at the battle of
Saba, and the storming capture and total destruction of the enemy's stockades on the 2i6t Feb. 1861. Also served
against the King of Quiah and was present at the capture and destruction of Massongha on loth Dec, of the
stockades and war fences at Madonkia on the night of the 3rd Dec, and of the Fetish town of Robeah on 28th Dec.
1861; also of the towns of Mafemba and Majohu—mentioned in despatches. Served on the Gold Coast from 6th
July to 12th August 1873 (Medal).
* Major Brett served against the King of Quiah, Western Africa, and commanded a Detachment of th« 2nd
West India Regiment at Songo when attacked by the enemy in great force, and whom he repulsed on 2i8t Dec.
1861. He has received the Silver Medal of the Royal Humane Society for saving two persons from drowning,
at New Quay, Cornwall, on the 14th August 1867. Served in the Ashanti war, in 1873-74, including the action of
Essaman (Brevet of Major, Medal).
5 Major Lanyon served in the Ashanti war of 1873-74, latterly, and until invalided on the 21st January 1874, as
Aide de Camp to Sir Garnet Wolseley (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
6 Major Turton served on the Gold Coast until invalided in June 1873 (Brevet of Major, Medal).
7 Captain Mathews served on the Gold Coast in 1873 (Ashanti Medal).
* Major Haynes sei-ved throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the engagements of the 27th October
(slightly wounded) and 3rd November near Dunquah (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
' Captain Paterson served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Des Barres served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74 (Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Jones served throughout the Ashanti war of 1873-74, including the engagements near Dunquah of the
27th October and 3rd November (severely wounded), the attack and capture of Adubiassie (Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Stoker served in the Ashauti war in 1873-74, including the repulse of the Ashanti army at Abrakrampa
during the 5th and 6th November 1873 (Medal).
" Lieut. Devereux served in the Ashanti war in 1873-74, including the action of Essaman (MednT.
'7 Lieut. Patchett served in the Ashanti wnr of 1873-74, including the engagements near Dunqiiah of the 27th
October and 3rd November—severely coptused and slightly wounded (Medal).
