' Sir Robert Vivian served throughout the Burmese war of 1824-26, and was present at the fall and occupation of
Rangoon, assault of stockades at Yelgeo, Joozong, and Kemmendine, rejiulsc of the enemy's attack on the Lines at
Rangoon, and subsequent operations, affairs in the Panglang river, attack and capture of stockades at Tliantabain
(in command of his Regiment), repulse of the enemy's several attacks under Bundoola on the Lines at Rangoon from
jst to 7th Dec. 1824, general engagement on ist (slightly wounded), 5th, and 7th Dec, action at Kokeiu, assault and
capture of Zimbike, affairs near Prome and Patnagoh, storm of Malown, and battle of Pagammew (Medal with Clasp).
Commanded the Force which captured the Fort of Nepaunee, held by a body of insurgent Arabs, 22iid Feb. 1841, for
which service he received the thanks of the local Government and Commander in Chief. In 1855, during the Rus¬
sian war, organized and commanded the Turkish Contingent of 20,000 men, and occupied the position of Kertch
during the winter of 1855-56, and received the approval and acknowledgments of Her Majesty's Government (KCB.,
ist Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
5 Major Grsme was present at the quelling of an insurrection in the lower part of the Basscin river in Jan. 1854
(Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Served in suppression of the Indian mutiny in Bengal in 1857-58, and present with
Havelock's Column in the actions of Mungarwar and Alumliagh, defence of the Alumbagh from 25th Sept. to Nov.
1857, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, occupation of the Alumbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknovv, ji nd cam¬
paign of 1858 in Oude (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow). Served in the Abys.sinian cam¬
paign in 1868 in command of a Division of the Transport Train (mentioned in despatches for the " extent and value
of his assistance," Brevet of Major, and Medal).
^ Captain Homsby served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, and present at the defeat of the GwaUor
rebels at Shahrajpore, was Orderly Officer to Major Bamston commanding 2nd Battalion of Detachments at the
defence of the Alumbagh in Oct. and Nov. 1857, and at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde including the capture of
the Secundrabagh, Shah Nujiff, 32nd Mess House and Tarakote ; also present at the occupation of the Alumbagh
under Outram, capture of Lucknow, and campaign of 1858 in Oude (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service
for Lucknow I.
' Captain Beaumont served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1857-58, and was present with Havelock's
Column in the actions of Futtehx)ore, Aoung, PandooNuddee, Cawn]iore, Buseerutgunge, Boorbeakechowkee, Bithoor,
Muugarwar, and Alumbagh, relief of Lucknow, defence of the Residency until relieved by Lord Clyde, occupati(jn of
the Alumbagh under Outram, cay)ture of Lueknow, campaign of 1858 in Oude, including passage of the Goomtee at
Sultanpore and other minor affairs, also affair at Shahpore, and capture of forts of Koita (Medal with two Clasps,
and a year's service for Lucknow).
8 Captain Woods served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1857-58, and was present at the action of
Soorajpore, relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, including storming of the Secundrabagh, Shah Nujiff, and 32nd Mess
House, occupation of the Alumbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknow, campaign of 1858 in Oude with passage of
the Goomtee, and several minor affairs (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow).
'" Captain Barclay served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1857, and was present with Havelock's Column
in the actions of Mungarwar and AJumbagh, relief of Lucknow, and defence of the Residency—severely wounded
(Medal with Clasp, and a year's service for Lucknow).
" Captain Duncan served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, including the action of Soorajpore, defence
of the Alumbagh under Colonel M'lntyre, storming of the Secundrabagh and Shah Nujiff and relief of Lucknow by
Lord Clyde, oci'upation of the Alumbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknow, campaign of 1858 in Oude, with pas¬
sage of the Goomtee, action at Shahpore, and other minor affairs (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for
Lucknow).
'2 Captain Cleland served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1857-58, and was present with Havelock's
Column in the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Bithoor, Mungarwar, and Alumbagh, relief
of Lucknow, and defence of the Residency, occupation of the Alumbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknow, cam¬
paign of 1858 in Oude—sUghtly wounded (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow).
