^ Captain Holmes served in the Oude campaign of 1838-59 (Medal). Served as Field Engineer with the Hazara
Field Force in 1868 (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Blair was engaged in suppressing the mutiny at Mooltan in August 1857. Served with the Eusofzai
Field Force in 1863 and was present in the action at the TJmbeylah Pass and burning of Lalloo (Medal with Clasp).
Served also with the Column against the Gaddoon tribe in 1864 including the burning of Mundee.

1 Sir Arthur Thomas Cotton served throtighont the Burmese war of 1S24-26 under Sir Archibald Campbell, and.
was present at the capture of Rangoon, reccmnoitring in gunboats and .iungle fighting near Kemundine, attack of
stockades and Pagoda of S\Tiam, capture of Morgui and Tavoy, defence of the Lines at Rangoon and attack of the
left flank of the Burmese Entrenchments, attack of the Stockade of Kokein, siege and capture of Donabew, attack of
Shan Stockades and of stockades on the left bank of the Irrawaddy near Promo, capture of Melloon and jungle-
fight at Paghammew which terminated the war (Medal with Clasp).
2 Major General Orr served with the Coorg exjjedition in 1834, and was present at the attack of the stockades of
Buck.
" Colojiel Wilkieson and Lt.Colonel A. S.Moberly served as Assistant Field Engineers with the Army of Ava in 1853..
8 Lt.Colonel Sankey served in the Indian mutiny cnmpaigns of 1857-58, and was present at the operations at
Cawnpore under General Windham, siege and capture of Lucknow (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasji).
' Lt. Colonel Mnllins in the second Burmese war as Senior Engineer Officer, and commanding the Detachment of
Sappers and Miners with the force under Brigadier General Cheape, employed against the Chief Myah Toon in the
vicinity of Donabew, in February and March 1833.

" Lt.Colonel H. N. D. Prenderga.st served with the Madras Sappers and Miners in Persia in 1857, and was present
at the bombardment ofMohumrah (Medal with Clasp). Served as Assistant Field Engineer with the Malwa Field
Force in 1857, and with the Central India Field Force under Sir Hugh Rose in 1858, took part in the sieges of Dhar,
Ratghur, Goratote, and Jha.nsi, was present at nearly all the battles and minor affairs of the above forces till the
capture of Calpee (Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major). Received the Victoria Cross for distinguished bravery,
I St at the battle of Mundesore (severely wounded), and at the battle of the Beena, near Ratghur (horse shot), 3rd at
the battle of Betwa (severely wounded). Commanded the Detachment of three Companies of Madras Sappers
and Miners in Abyssinia, was Field Engineer during the advance, and was present at the action before Magdala
(mentioned in despatches as having "rendered singularly valuable and important services," Brevet of Lt.Colonel,
and Medal).
1* Major Howes served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1858, and was present at the affairs of Jheegung and
Kubrai, battle of Banda, relief of Kirwee, and' attack of the Heights of Punwarree (Medal).
15 Major Lindsay served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1858, and was present at the affairs of Jheegimg
and Kubrai, battle of Banda, relief of Kirwee, and in the Reserve during the storm of the Heights of Punwarre-
(Medal).

Lord Clyde (horse shot), at the occupation of the Alumbagh by Outram's Force, and at the siege and capture of

17 Captain Wood served in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1858, and was present at the affairs of Jheegung and.
Kubrai, battle of Banda, action in front of Ohitrakote, forcing of the Punghatee Pass and subsequent affair at
Punghatee (Medal). Served as Field Engineer with the Abyssinian Expeditionary Force in 1868, succeeding
Captain Chrystie in charge of the Works at Zoulla, for these Works he got great credit (mentioned in despatches.
Medal).
1* Captain Traill served throughout the Chinese campaign of i860, was present at the action of Sinho, captiire of
Tangku, and engaged with the storming party at the fall of the Taku Ports; afterwards had charge of the demolition
of the forts on the south side of the Peiho (Medal with Clasp).
1' Captain Filgate served as Assistant Field Engineer throughout the Chinese campaign of i86o, and was present
at the action of Sinho, captures of Tangku and the Taku Forts, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps).
20 Captain Pennycuick served in the Abyssinian campaign in command of H Company Madras Sappers (Medal).
31 Captain Sim served with the Kohat expedition of 1869 under Colonel Kyes, and was mentioned in despatches
and thanked by the Government of India.
2" Captain P'ennefather served as Assistant Engineer in the Abyssinian expedition during the whole campaign of
1867-68. Services brought to the especial notice of Sir Robert Napier by the Commanding Royal Engineer (mentioned
