the Mutiny in India in 1857-58, and was present when the 81st Re^t. under Colonel Kenny disarmed at Mean Meer one
Resiment of Native Cavalry and three Regiments of Native Infantry, all disaffected and ripe fur mutiny.
177 Surgeon E. Webb served in India in 1857-58, and M'as present at the actions of Banda and Chitrakote (mentioned in
Dispatch, Medal).
178 Doctor W. Ramsay served in the Crimea from 28th Mav, 1853 (Medal and Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).
Served in tlie Indian campaign of 1858, in medical charge of a Wing 37th llegt. in the action at Atrowlea, besieged in Azimgliur
and sortie thence, action of Asmatghur and subsequent operations (Medal).
179 Surgeon G. M. Cardan was present in the action of Pertabghur on 24th Dec. 1858 (Medal).
180 Doctor H. C. Miles served in the Medical Staff during the Crimean War in 1855 (Medal and Clasp and Turkish Medal).
Served with the 83rd Rcgt. in the Indian campaign of 1857-58; was present at the attack on Nimbkeira (severely wounded);
during the defence of the fortified square of Neemuch in Nov. 1857, although suffering from a gunshot wound, served in
medical charge of the detachment 83rd Kegt. and wiug of 12th Native Infantry ; was present during the field o]ierations against
Awah, and subsequent destruction of adjacent strongholds ; served in medical charge of tlie 83rd Regt. prior to and was present
during the siege oiierations against Kotah and its capture by assault (Medal and Clasp).
181 Surgeon T. J. Orton served with the Royal Artillery in the trenches before Sebastopol in 1835 and at the assault of the
Redan on the 8th Sept. (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the Central India field force under Sir Hugh Rose
in 1858, and was present at the siege and capture of the fort of Chandairee, siege and capture of Jhansi, battle of the Betwa,
action at Koonch, actions of 17th and 18th May, and of 21st May at GolowUe and capture of Calpee was afterwards present in
various actions in the Bundlekund district (Medal).
183 Surgeon P. Kilgour served with the 79th Highlanders in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1858, including the siege and
capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).
183 Surgeon W. H. Muschamp served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol in 1855 and attack of the 8th Sept. (Medal with
Clasp). Served in the N.W. Provinces in suppressing the Mutiny of 1857-58, including the operations at Cawnpore under
Windham, defeat there of the Gwalior Contingent, actions of Kala Nuddee and Khankur, capture of BareiUy, relief of Shalge-
lianpore, and affairs of Mahomdee, Shahabad, and Bunkagaon (Medal).
181 Surgeon S. A. Lithgow served with the 75th Regt. duriu"; the Indian campaign of 1857-59 (in medical charge from the
commencement of the operations against Delhi until the relief of Lucknow), and was present at the action of Budlekaserai,
siege of Delhi and capture of the city, pursuit of the enemy and actions of Bolundshuhur, Agra, AUyghur, Akrabad, and
Kaiioj, advance into Oude, and affairs of Maragunge, Alumbagh, and Dilkoosha, and rehef of Lucknow by Lord Clyde,
thereafter remained ivith Outram's division at the Alumbagh and was present at the repulse of the several attacks and at the
affair of Guilce (Medal with two Clasps).
185 Surgeon A. 11. Smith served in the Crimean campaign from May 1853, including the expedition to Kertch and
Yenikale (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served in India in 1837-58, and was present at the actions of Secundra,
Chanda, and Sultanpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, and relief of Azimghur (Medal and Clasp).
180 Surgeon R. II. Beale served with the 31st Regt. in the Crimea from 1th June 1855, including siege and fall of Scbas-
topol, and attacks of the Redan on the 18th June and 8th Sept. (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the 53rd
llegt. in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the storm and capture of Meangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, affair
of Koorsee, passage of the Goomtee and occupation of Sultanpore, passage of the Gogra at Fyzabad on 25tli Nov., minor affairs,
attack and destruction of the I'ort of Eungcon (Medal and Clasp).
187 Surgeon H. J. Hose served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from June 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Served the campaign of 18G0 in North China, including the laking of SiiihoandTangku, actions of 18th and 21st
September, and surrender of Pekin, and was in medical charge of the 2nd Queen's Royals from the taking of Tangliu to tho
end of tlie campaign (Medal with two Clasps).
188 Surgeon W. 11. Harris served in the Crimea from 22nd May 1853, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, the
attack of the 18th June, and battle of the Tchernaya (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served dm-ing the Indian
campaign in 1857-58, and was present with Colonel ^laxwell's cohmin in the operations before Calpee early in 1858, and proceeded
with it to the Alumbagh during the capture of Lucknow. Present also at the surrender of the forts of^Ahmatce and Shunker-
pore, pursuit of Beni Madhoo across the Gogra, at the subsequent operations in Oude (Medid).
189 Doctor C. A. Innes served with the 11. Artillery in the Crimea from 26th May 1855, was present at the bombardments of
I8tb June and 8tli Sept., also with the expedition to Kertch (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served witli t)ie 52nd
Lt. Inf. during the Indian Mutiny in 1857, and was in medical charge of the Regt. during part of the siege, assault and capture
of Delhi I Medal with Clasp).
190 Surgeon J. N. Shipton served in the Crimea from May 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and both
attacks on the Redan (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the Indian Mutiny campaign from Nov. 1857, and
was present at the relief of Lucknow, defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, actions at
Tulrow lee, Poonvah, and Dnndiakeira (Medal with two Clasps).
191 Doctor V. M. M'Master served in the Persian war in 1857, including the night attack and battle of Kooshab, and
bomiiardment of Mohunirali (Medal and Clasp). Left Allahabad with Ilavelock's column in July 1857, and was present in all
the operations resulting in the recapture of Cawnpore and in the first advance into Oude and subsequent engagements up to 12(h
August; present on the second advance into Oude and in all the actions ending in the relief of the Residency of Lucknow and
subsequent defence including several sorties (wounded); with Outram's force at Alunibagh until the capture of Lucknow; the
Ilohilcund campaign and capture of Bareilly (Medal with two Clasps, Victoria Cross, and a year's service).
192 Surgeon J. Watts served in the Indian Mutiny campaign of 1857-58, including the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde,
and ocru|)ation of the Alumbagh from 25th Oct. to 18th Nov., and defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore on 6th Dec.
1857 (Medal with Clasp, and a year's service).
191 Surgeon C. M. Jcssop served with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the Crimea from June 1855 (Medal and Clasp, and
Turkish Medal). Was present doing duty with the Royid Artillery at the capture of Canton on 28tli Dec. 1867 (Medal and
Clasp).
195 Surgeon W. R. Burkitt served in the Crimea in 1855 and was at the assaults on Sebastopol on the 18th June and
8th Sept. (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in India during the Mutiny in 1837-38, and was present with the
Kumool field force at the capture of Sherapore and storming of the forts of Kopul (Medal). Served in China with the 1st
Dragoon Guards during the campaign of 1860, and was present at the affair of Sinlio, capture of the Taku Forts, and surrender
of i'ckin (Medal and two Clasps).
196 Surgeon J. H. Robotham served with the 2nd Dr. Gds. in the Indian campaign of 1858-69, including the action of
Nusserutpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, subsequent operations, action of Barree, the Oude campaign, fiction of Jamo,
siege and capture of Birwah, Trans-Gogra affairs at Bungaon (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp).
197 Surgeon G. L. Hinde served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from 30th July 1855 (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish
Medal).
198 Surgeon J. II. G. Mcares served in the 39tli Regt. in medical charge of the troops during the operations before, and bom¬
bardment of Canton by the Royal Navy under Sir Michael Seymour in 1866-57 (Medal).
199 Surgeon Ed« in Wilson served in the 71st Highlanders with the Central India Field force under Sir Hugh Rose in
1838, and was present at the battle of Koonch, affairs during the advance on Calpee, battle of Golowlec, capture of Calpee,
action of Morar, recapture of Gwalior, and in medical charge of a living column in pursuit of Burgore Sing (Medal with
